DRACULA: The Series Is On The Way From NBC, As Per New Report

Although the media seems to take some pleasure reporting the decline of the vampire genre, it seems that nothing could be further from the truth -- according to Deadline, NBC is exploring a Dracula show.

Describes the site of Dracula (frequent subject of film, novels and comics), "Set in the 1890s, it is described as 'Dangerous Liaisons meets The Tudors' and as a big, sweeping international soap opera that is young, sexy and supernatural. Frequent collaborators Krantz and Callender are executive producing, with Flame’s Reece Pearson co-executive producing."

The way the deal is structured, if the network likes the first script, it will go directly to series, which is the same situation as Bryan Fuller's TV version of Hannibal Lector that's in development.

In some ways, the description of Dracula sounds like a period version of Dark Shadows. If it goes, the show will join such vampiric fare as True Blood, The Vampire Diaries and, of course, the big screen Dark Shadows coming in May.
