Kevin Feige Says Joss Whedon's Involvement With THE AVENGERS 3 Is "Still Being Determined"

We know that Joss Whedon's current contract includes directing The Avengers: Age of Ultron developing Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for ABC and overseeing all "Phase Two" movies, but will he return when Earth's Mightiest Heroes assemble for the third time? Hit the jump for details!

"It’s still being determined," Kevin Feige told Screen Rant at the junket for Thor: The Dark World when they asked him about whether a deal is in place for Joss Whedon to return for The Avengers 3. "All of his efforts right now are in what he’s doing for us primarily, obviously, writing and prepping Age of Ultron but also in reading the drafts of the films in phase 2, watching early cuts and a) to inform him where the characters are going to end up in the beginning of Age of Ultron and also to get his input and his wisdom into all of these. But right now it’s all about leading up to Age of Ultron." When Whedon's deal with Marvel Studios was first publicly announced, it was specified that it would end in June 2015. For that reason, it's likely that he won't have much involvement with Ant-Man, but that's hardly a surprise when it's very much Edgar Wright's baby. However, that doesn't mean that The Avengers: Age of Ultron director won't be involved with "Phase Three"; after all, if he has any sense, he'll wait until The Avengers sequel breaks even more box office records before signing a new contract!

@Pasto LOL you're walking on egg shells with that idea, some members on here would disagree

I reckon they'll keep Whedon, don't fix what aint broken! Avengrs was brilliant imo, and AOS even though not great, is an easy enjoyable watch each ep.

I'm cool with either Whedon or Snyder behind either team up movie...

Gimme a break..if Avengers 2 is nearly as successful as the 1st then Whedon will see another huge payday & will be handed Avengers 3 on a silver platter.

Sounds like they're being cheap. He probably wants too much money to direct the third one.

Kevin Feige is getting questions about Avengers 3, when we are barely starting Phase 2!!! Damn, people need to have more patience. While it is great that people are already interested in Phase 3, lets just concentrate on the development of Phase 2.

And I would love to see the entire cast and Joss Whedon return for one final movie, especially when Joss put Thanos in the credits of HIS movie, it would be great to see him finish out the story he started. then with Phase 3 finishing the decade, Phase 4 can be a fresh start. They can adapt the magic and the street level side of the MCU during the 2020s, then return to the Avengers in the 2030 with a new cast and new director

he will be back for the 3rd, will go down as the greatest trilogy ever, surpassing the original star wars (I know this is going to get stick for that but I belive it to be true) considering the fact that if there is another 4 films between age of ultron and avengers 3 that will be the culmination of 16 odd films

Please keep Snyder and Goyer far, far away from the Marvel Universe. You can keep your slo-mo action scenes and washed out color palettes, thank you.

As long as Avengers 2 performs, he'll be in. Marvel may not like paying their actors, but they'll shell out for Joss again.

I'd take shitty slapstick dialogue over shitty boring dialogue and shitty writing any day.

I have been at funerals with more of a spark than certain DC movies
