Kevin Feige Says Joss Whedon's Involvement With THE AVENGERS 3 Is "Still Being Determined"
We know that Joss Whedon's current contract includes directing The Avengers: Age of Ultron developing Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for ABC and overseeing all "Phase Two" movies, but will he return when Earth's Mightiest Heroes assemble for the third time? Hit the jump for details!
"It’s still being determined," Kevin Feige told Screen Rant at the junket for Thor: The Dark World when they asked him about whether a deal is in place for Joss Whedon to return for The Avengers 3. "All of his efforts right now are in what he’s doing for us primarily, obviously, writing and prepping Age of Ultron but also in reading the drafts of the films in phase 2, watching early cuts and a) to inform him where the characters are going to end up in the beginning of Age of Ultron and also to get his input and his wisdom into all of these. But right now it’s all about leading up to Age of Ultron." When Whedon's deal with Marvel Studios was first publicly announced, it was specified that it would end in June 2015. For that reason, it's likely that he won't have much involvement with Ant-Man, but that's hardly a surprise when it's very much Edgar Wright's baby. However, that doesn't mean that The Avengers: Age of Ultron director won't be involved with "Phase Three"; after all, if he has any sense, he'll wait until The Avengers sequel breaks even more box office records before signing a new contract!
