It Doesn't Sound Like NIGHTWING Is A Top Priority For Warner Bros.' DC Films Division
Last night, it was revealed that The LEGO Batman Movie director Chris McKay is in talks to direct Dungeons & Dragons and a new report reveals that it may be because Nightwing isn't a priority at DC Films.
With Aquaman set to hit theaters this December and Shazam currently shooting for a 2019 release, fans are understandably curious about what comes next for the DC Films Universe. While Flashpoint, Batgirl, and The Joker appear to be up next for Warner Bros., it now seems like Nightwing has been shelved - for a little while at least - while Chris McKay focuses his attention on Dungeons & Dragons.
According to The Tracking Board, Warner Bros. chose to keep McKay in the fold following the success of The LEGO Batman Movie by giving him Nightwing but that project is said to be "years down the line" because there are so many other DC Films releases in various stages of production. As a result, it's said that the spinoff revolving around Dick Grayson simply isn't a priority for the studio as of right now.
The filmmaker has talked a lot about Nightwing on social media and is clearly passionate about the movie so chances are it will happen at some point. For now, though, Warner Bros. has plenty of Dark Knight related projects in the works, including The Batman, The Joker, Batgirl, and The Joker vs. Harley Quinn. Are you excited for Nightwing to happen? In the meantime, at least we'll see Dick in Titans!
