The debate continues, who will emerge as the better villain in the battle for the best CBM

Will it be Loki or will it be Bane. From Nolan's previous casting decisions with the casting director, we have Liam and Heath live up to the part of the villain that is the scourge of Gotham.

I believe a lot of fans and haters of Batman don't know the history of an actor such as Tom Hardy. Hardy has the ability to transform into any acting role, the diabolical serial killer is a role that fits him well and he has executed a role such as this previously.

If we look at a comparison, Hardy has acted in films such as Bronson, the British crime series The Take, recently the Warrior and in the future Mad Max. Hiddleston is also a talented actor nonetheless but in comparison is not remotely close to being the true definition of a CBM villain.

I believe this summer will see the emergence of another superstar actor in Tom Hardy, as his stock will rise exponentially because his depiction of evil is currently imo second to none.

I thought this article was going to be an unbiased comparison, but instead I can see that it was written by a nolanite trying to explain why Bane is better.

For me Loki was one of the weak points of the Avengers. A great villain should not only do terrible things but have a good or interesting motivation for doing so. Even though Loki acted like he was motivated by power, in the end he only tried to conquer earth to get back at Thor. For me that kinda undid all the bad things he did in the film and made him look like a brat.

Now I don't know maybe Bane will completely suck as the villain but from what I've seen from the prologue and trailer he appears to be the better of the two.

@Priest, my thoughts exactly.

@ Madmex93,

I guess that you have never read a Thor comic book or just any comic book featuring Loki. Loki's main reason for doing mischief is that he is insanely jealous of Thor. Yes, to get back at Thor IS his motivation. He even says so when he is talking with Thor just before Thor and Iron Man fight.

loki look like a brat.. dude, the earth was caught in the middle of a sibbling rivalry between GODS. seriously. .... hardy will be amzazing, if you havent watched Bronson you need to see it, based on a true story, google some of the actual bronson footage, chances are good you have already seen some of it on any of the world most insane video shows. good good movie. fantastic performance.

I never really dug Loki, even in the comics. He is definitely more powerful than Bane, but I think Bane is the more fascinating character. Loki, is just a jealous brat with daddy issues. Hiddleston did a great job portraying him in the movie, but in my opinion I didn't feel he was given much to work with, because (and rightfully so) Joss made the movie about The Avengers. Loki was there to give them somebody to fight who was powerful.

There are things I liked about Thor and things I didn't, and Loki's motivation was one I never understood. Right off the bat you can tell he is the bad guy (even if you knew nothing about the comics), and the only real reason he is bad is due to his jealousy of Thor, and contempt for Odin. His character isn't nearly fleshed out enough, and I would have liked some scenes with them growing up showcasing Loki's perceived slights and Odin's favoritism towards Thor. Based solely on the movie, you got the vibe that Odin was a great dad to both, and Loki is just being a petty bitch. I understand he is adopted, and feels he is just a political ploy, but from the lone flashback scene we got Odin treated him with respect, and had genuine affection for him. It didn't make any sense in the context of Thor's narrative why Loki would betray them both, aside from the fact that he is vindictive for the sake of being vindictive, and providing the movie with a villain.

I will say this article is really bias. I would of liked an in depth character study, providing references from the comics -and in the Avengers case the movie).

Hiddleston was perfect as Loki but Loki is just another stereotypical villain who wants world domination. Bane on the other had just wants to destroy Gotham and create total anarchy while killing Batman. I am certain that Hardy will own as Bane and make him the villain of the year like Ledger did with Joker.

I don't think Bane wants anarchy, I really thinks he wants to give the citizens of Gotham back the power to control their city.

Hardy will be the more menacing character of the two I'm sure of it.I really like the darker Loki we got in The Avengers tho.When he takes the guys eye & is smiling as every1 is in panic.XD

All in all Bane 4 Villain of the year.I mean U KNOW that man is gonna [frick] Gotham up!!!! XD

I'm pretty sure Bane doesn't see himself as the villain.He's gonna be like Ra's (in the way that he didn
t c himself as the villain either) but just WAY more brutal.

while Hardy is a truly good actor, i don't think he will outdo Hiddleston as Loki. Hiddleston completely just became Loki, it is the role that will define his career. he is that good in it. everything shown about Bane so far has been average at best.

i don't think the fault is with Hardy, but with the character and material. i am hopeful about TDKR, but not holding my breath

@intruder

based on what? you have to take into account hardy's roles and hiddleston's roles

bane will not be bashed like a rag doll, as loki was by hulk, loki hardly portrayed an image as being psychotic
