El Mayimbe of the website, Latino-Review, has a new scoop, this time his sources have informed him that prestigious actor, Colin Firth, has landed the coveted role of Uncle Jack in Matthew Vaughn's The Secret Service.

"Anyway, according to sources, Oscar winner Colin Firth has bagged the role of Uncle Jack in the upcoming film. That’s a really hot casting choice. Uncle Jack is quite the alpha male in the comic so it will be a cool to see someone like Colin Firth put foot to ass. Can’t wait." - El Mayimbe

Production of the film is expected to begin sometime in August. The film is slated to open in theaters nationwide, November 14th, 2014!

UPDATE! It appears that the website, rogersmovienation.com, actually has a quote from Colin Firth confirming that he has a part in the film. That article was posted just a few days ago, but clearly went unnoticed.
But he’s never done a Hollywood comic book movie, and he lets on that he’s about to worth with Matthew Vaughn (“Kick Ass”). Vaughn is doing the comic book adaptation of “The Secret Service.” It’s about a secret agent of iconic, James Bond status, and the young “street punk” nephew he mentors in the spy game.

“Too early to talk about now, but it’ll be unlike anything I’ve done,” Firth teases. - rogersmovienation

Here's a preview of the book if anybody is interested: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/kick-ass-watchmen-new-comic-mark-hamill-309251

So Marvel has the official 4 movies for 2014 (Cap 2, GotG, DoFP, TAM 2) and possibly this and the rumored Big Hero 6 in November? I love comic book movies as much as everybody on here but we're moving from 3 or less Marvel movies a year to six in one year? That may be over saturating, because that's just one publisher.

@Editninja. Mark Millar basically likes to make his own fancasts when it come to his properties (originally He wanted Brad Pitt for Big Daddy.)

Superior: Tom Hardy, Christina Hendricks, Asa Butterfield (sorry if i spelt that one.) Gary Oldman as the Chimp.

Nemesis: Brad Pitt or Liam Neason, Johnny Depp or Michael Fassbender (Nemesis)

@Godkiller Thats what i like about Mark Millar, he can be his own worst enemy. He can come up with cool stories worthy of being adapted, and palling around with worthy directors. But he dicks around with the fans too much

Interestingly, he was the first option to play Sebastian Shaw on Matthew's X-Men First Class, but for some reason didnt happen.

Never thought Colin could do this type of movie, so Im a bit surprised. Will be something tottally different for him, so should be fun

I think Vaughn was still involved in the story of DOFP, but was tied up with directing this movie. Singer's back to fix everything Ratner screwed up and smooth over any continuity issues raised by First Class.
