David Tennant Talks Joining A.K.A JESSICA JONES As 'The Purple Man': 'Who Says It's A Villain?'
Playing coy about his role as Dr. Zebediah Killgrave, aka The Purple Man, being the villain of A.K.A. Jessica Jones, actor David Tennant talks here for the first time about being cast in the Netflix series!
When David Tennant spoke with Radio Times last night, the British actor talked for for time about being cast in Marvel's A.K.A Jessica Jones Netflix series as Zebediah Killgrave, otherwise known as the Purple Man supervillain. “I grew up on Marvel comics, so it’s very exciting to be part of their ever expanding entertainment empire,” he said. “It’s great. I love the movies, I love the TV shows that they do, so I’m very pleased to be part of one. I grew up an absolute devotee to the worlds of Marvel, so the fact that they’ve expanded now into TV and film is something that I think I sort of fantasied about when I was younger. So now to be part of it, to be on the other side of it is a thrill.” When asked how it feels to be playing the villain, the Doctor Who alum replied, “Who says it’s a villain? Make no assumptions. I’m saying nothing … I’ve found myself in another world which I can answer no questions about.” Given Marvel's casting announcement had already dubbed Tennant's character as the villain, the actor is obviously playing coy. What do you think?
Marvel's A.K.A. Jessica Jones will follow the titular superheroine "after a tragic ending to her short-lived super hero stint" and as she is now "rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City." So far starring Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), David Tennant (Kilgrave), the 13-episode A.K.A. Jessica Jones series will be premiering after Daredevil on Netflix later this year.
