Following those awesome character posters, Marvel Studios has released the first featurette for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. There are quite a few new snippets of never-before-seen footage to be found here, though most of it is extended versions of scenes or moments we've already seen in the handful of trailers and TV spots released for the sequel so far.

We hear from Benedict Cumberbatch and Benedict Wong, along with director Sam Raimi who says, "We wanted the fans to go, ‘Oh, how cool.’ That really was our goal. We wanted to give the fans what they wanted, just not exactly what they expected." That's intriguing, don't you think?

In terms of what the footage does reveal, it's definitely "Defender Strange" running from a monster that looks a lot like a living version of the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak, while America Chavez is at his side. The bloodied Wanda Maximoff, meanwhile, has her hands full with that Captain Marvel Variant.

Check out this new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness featurette below:

In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the Marvel Cinematic Universe unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. We'll journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.

The movie's cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stühlbarg, and Rachel McAdams. The film is directed by Sam Raimi, and Kevin Feige is the producer. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Eric Hauserman Carroll and Jamie Christopher serve as executive producers. The screenplay was written by Loki Head Writer Michael Waldron.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be released on May 6.

My hope is that there is some addition from the Tim Story FF films.

Im taking it as a given that we travel to the Raimi-verse at some point in this movie.

@TheManWithoutFear - maybe you shouldn't take it as a given. And in speaking having full knowledge of confirmed leaks btw.

@Jeight8 @TheManWithoutFear - I have said for ages and no one wants to listen that going to the Raimi-verse is legally more complicated than literally anything else suggested.

Marvel can legally use one more Spider-Man appearance as per the No Way Home deal but surely it will be saved for an actual Tom Holland appearance somewhere, Avengers 5 or Fantastic Four, and not on a past incarnation that we saw back in December.

We the fans know Sam + Tobey but 95% of people going into Dr. Strange 2 won't so it would be so much legal work just to get that. People seem to think, "Oh, Sam Raimi's back, Tobey Maguire was just back, would make sense to see them again" and not much beyond that.

Most hyped MCU entry since Endgame IMO. CANT WAIT.

Also, it's good to see/hear Raimi again. the guy hasn't aged a bit in 20 years.

@Crtdacct2say - I saw something today that the trailer is done. so it's likely to drop within the week I reckon. will definitely be before MoM hits the screens.

I have to say that out of the (what is sure to be) plethora of characters in this movie, the Strange Supreme character is probably the one who interests me the most, based on the trailers so far. Watching Beaniebaby Cabbagepatch break bad should prove to be very interesting indeed.

I wonder if we’re going to get a Joaquin Phoenix Doctor Strange cameo or at least a reference.

All this Multiverse madness, bum dum tss, is gonna lead to a Russo's 2 part Secret Wars film.

@BraxtonHicks - with the multiverse the Russo’s can pick and choose from just about any Marvel characters, dead or alive, legacy or never introduced.

@WruceBayne - That's very true as they have always wanted to introduce certain characters they absolutely love. It'd give them the playground they'd always dream of.
