They're not referring to him as The Purple Man, but Marvel has officially announced that David Tennant (Doctor Who, Gracepoint, Fright Night) will play 'Kilgrave' in the second of their upcoming Netflix shows, A.K.A Jessica Jones. We found out that this particularly sick Marvel comics villain would most likely be the antagonist of the series when some leaked audition videos made their way online, and expected a casting announcement pretty soon. Marvel describe the character as "an enigmatic figure from Jessica’s past, Kilgrave’s reappearance will send shockwaves through the former super hero’s world."

Zebediah Killgrave, aka the Purple Man, has the power to influence people to do whatever he wishes, and made Jessica Jones' life a living hell by basically keeping her as his slave and forcing her to attack other superheroes. Things get pretty dark in the comics, so it'll be interesting to see how far and in what direction Marvel and Netflix are willing to take this story.
