Greetings readers, as you might of already read here on CBM.com, HBO is launching a streaming service in 2015 ro rival that of Netflix's. Now you might laugh at HBO for goin up vs the big dog but I for one would make the jump FROM Netflix to HBO, well maybe have an account in boht places rather but...you get the point.

Now let's look at how HBO could put a big dent in Netflix's dominance of the Market (IN THE USA)

Netflix has NO DC movies at all, that would be because HBO own the rights to them, hence why MOS plays on HBO and not on Netflix, this of course if because Time Warner owns HBO & Warners Brothers. Now what could HBO streaming offer us?

Over 50 movies, all from Man of Steel, The Dark Knight Trilogy, V for Vendetta, Road to Perdition, A History of Violence and many many more, including the animated movies from the vast DC library. Now wait a second I know what you are thinking Here come DCGuy with his DC bullcrap only DC blah blah, well no.

Marvel movies would benefit from this too, NONE of the Iron man, Capt America, Thor or any Marvel movies at all are at Netflix either except for The Avengers, of course like I said this is only in USA Netflix,

What HBO offers us is a place not only to watch Game of Thrones, Classics like Batman, Superman, new classics like the Nolan Batman movie, Man of steel or even the bad movies like Steel, Green lantern and Catwoman, but you can also see the Marvel Phase 1 and 2 films, The old Daredevil flick, the Elektra and maybe even the X-men movies since Fox & WB have a good relationship, unlike Marvel & Fox, once could argue that HBO streaming could be the home of EVERY major Comic book movie ever.

Now of course HBO would have to pull this off and not only that but it would still lack in some departments as Netflix has Flash, Arrow & Gotham series wrapped up for now, Constantine would be a nice addition to any streaming channel, same with Agents of Shield or Agent Carter, but by the time those hit it might be too late.

HBO has the movies and a series now all it needs to is build it self a good series of original's be it movies or series to rack up those casuals.

so for me, if HBO delivers on the massive Movie library that Netflix misses out on, if it's able to rack up some series and create some new content, it will earn my $

I had no idea HBO was going to add a streaming site. That's news to me. Unless you are talking about HBO Go, I only knew about that app and didn't know what it was. Your idea is good. I thought you were going to talk about something different though. I thought you were going to say Netflix has Marvel tv shows, so why can't HBO have DC ones. It does surprise me that WB hasn't made some comic book shows for HBO. Fables would have been really great on that channel. Even a Caped Crusader show would be excellent. Now back on the subject. You have a good idea and hopefully it happens like that. Also I don't think Constantine would be able to be on this HBO app. The reason why is because from what I've heard, Amazon Prime has the exclusive rights to it.

Counterpoint: Affordability and accessibility. Everyone loves HBO, but it's still very much a "premium" service. This comparison is really kind of apples to oranges, but I will say that Netflix gets major points for being accessible "off the grid" of traditional cable/satellite TV. The old model is a dinosaur that needs to die, and to my knowledge HBO still requires buying into it.

Also, airing CBMs is one thing, but a lot of them can be purchased on DVD for very cheap at this point.

For me, it's all about original content. On HBO, I like Game of Thrones and True Detective. On Netflix, I like House of Cards. Neither has done anything comic book-y yet, but Netflix has drawn first blood with their Marvel properties. It's the only reason I still have a Netflix subscription. My hope is that the comic book shows do well enough for Netflix that HBO feels the need to jump on that bandwagon as well. We need more adult-oriented comic book tv programming. There certainly are enough stories out there to adapt!

I don't have Netflix but i do have HBO. HBO has a higher production value and better costume pieces sets cinematography but when it comes to screen writing it can sometimes fall flat and not forgetting most people don't want to be subjected to seeing nudity and sex which is notorious for HBO's tv show's but i'm fine with everything else that is adult orientated.
