Is Liam Neeson Interested In 'Gunslinger' Role In Ron Howard's THE DARK TOWER?

The Schmoes' "Phantom" scooper is back with some exciting news..this time revolving around the long gestating adaptation of Stephen King's hugely popular series of fantasy/horror novels. He reckons Neeson is interested in a role, and it's likely the lead role of Roland "The Gunslinger" Deschain.

Earlier today we reported that Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul has had a "ton of meetings" regarding the role of Eddie Dean in Ron Howard's take on The Dark Tower. Now obviously if actors are taking meetings, that means there's finally some movement on the ambitious movie/tv crossover adaptation, so The Schmoes did some digging and turned up the following.

"Ron Howard is going to make this with MRC and Imagine for around 60 million or so. And he’s likely doing this next. There’s going to be a TV series as well since it’s MRC and I’m thinking it may end up being at Netflix."

Oh, and one more thing: he hears Liam Neeson is interested. Now he didn't elaborate, so we're just assuming it's for the lead role of Roland Dechain..after all there aren't really any other main roles Neeson could play. That's all we got for now - but The Schmoes have been on point with their scoops thus far so expect to hear something further on all things Dark Tower pretty soon. For now, could anyone possibly have a problem with Neeson playing Roland?

60 million seems a little low for a project like this... I really hope that's just the budget for the first film only!

It would most likely be a 60 million budget because they would just make "The Gunslinger" Neeson could play The Man in Black.

Yes. The Dark Tower could still be happening there is still hope. Liam Neeson would be exceptional if he where to act in The Dark Tower. I think a trilogy for The Dark Tower would be appropriate but the budget is what worries me. It just seems a little too low.

FUN FACT! Seattle and Denver are only two cities with legalized marijuana, and they're playing each other. I find that funny for some odd reason.

Could possibly be an interesting Man in Black. Not really feeling him for Roland. I would rather it be somebody like Jon Hamm

I just don't see him as Roland. I can see him as The leader of the Big Coffin Hunters (sorry name escapes me ...its been awhile since Wizard and the Glass) or even Flagg. Wait, oh god, yes ...please be Flagg!

Oh my goodness, GIVE US NEWS!!!

I'm so tired of speculation and rumors!

It's not "Liam Neeson is cast for The Dark Tower",

it's not "Liam Neeson is in discussion to be in The Dark Tower",

it's not even "Liam Neeson is Interested in leading The Dark Tower"

but "IS Liam Neeson Interested in 'Gunslinger' Role in The Dark Tower [QUESTION MARK!!!!!]"

This isn't news!

My personal choice for Roland would be Daniel Craig especially when I saw him in Cowboys and Aliens plus his blue eyes seem to be Gunslingerish

Daniel Craig as Jake Lonergan in Cowboys & Aliens (2011) (actor)

My pick would be Hugh jackman as he looks like a younger clint Eastwood, and my second pick would be Andrew Lincoln

Though the books do say Roland resembles Stephen King somewhat. Actually wonder what they'll do about Sai King...

Nah, Neeson is a good actor but wrong for Roland. They need a younger lesser known actor with Talent.
