Is Batman tough enough to tangle with some of Marvel's villains?

In response to the voting, Batman is now going up against some of Marvel's rogues gallery. Can he survive?

Batman is one of the toughest non-powered heroes within the DC Universe as well as one of the smartest. There is no debate he is the greatest detective but there is some debate as to whether or not he has the ability to defeat the likes of Superman and other high powered heroes. Batman may not be able to defeat them, but he does have a contingency plan in case any heroes decide to go rogue. A prime example of this is within the pages of JLA: Tower of Babel. Within this story arc, we find Batman's has been keeping records concerning the strengths and weaknesses of his allies in the JLA, including plans to neutralise his allies in a fight. Another case of Batman's intelligence is he keeps a kryptonite ring in his utility belt in case he has to face Kryptonians or even the man of steel himself.

But can he defeat them with these contingencies in place? And what if Batman somehow makes it into the Marvel Universe? More than likely, Batman would get a feel for his surroundings and learn to adapt as he always does. The following fights will be left to the fans as to who is the better fighter. Assume Batman has been in the Marvel Universe for a month and has been in hiding, while gathering data on his coming opponents. If he were to face some of these characters, would he actually win, or would he fall? It's time for you to decide...is Batman tough enough?

"Sometimes, I admit, I think of Bruce as a man in a costume. Then, with some gadget from his utility belt, he reminds me that he has an extraordinarily inventive mind. And how lucky I am to be able to call on him." --Superman

Hobgoblin vs. Batman:

Batman

The fight kicks off with both men throwing batarang, pumpkin bombs, razor batwings and everything you can think of that both combatants have. The biggest think the dark knight has for him at this moment though is the fact Phil is a very inexperienced fighter. Even when he had a Green Goblin suit, he was just barely winning some of his battles and hasn't had much training since then. Instead he relies on his superhuman strength (thanks to the suit) and his gadgets, but all Batman is doing is waiting for the right moment. Luckily, he's had a fight with the Green Goblin before, so he has adapted and he also knows Urich isn't as crazy as Norman. When Hobgoblin glides close enough, Bruce lands an exploding batarang onto the glider and disables it and this sends Phil flying through the air. When he attempts to stop himself w/his jet boots, Batman has already predicted his movement and has another exploding batarang make contact. It explodes on his boot and hurls Hobby out of control into the street. When he lands face first into the pavement, the dark knight is already there to meet him and delivers a fierce combo, which puts the Hobgoblin out of commission.

Kang vs. Batman:
Kang
28 Votes (77.78%)
Batman
8 Votes (22.22%)
Batman may be used to fighting futuristic villains, but not like Kang. In his time within the Marvel Universe, he wasn't able to collect much data from Nathaniel so he tries to improvise. This tactic fails because Kang has already seen this past event and has prepared for it. The battle was over before it began...

Klaw vs. Batman:
Klaw
6 Votes (24.00%)
Batman
19 Votes (76.00%)
When this fight begins, Batman already knows Klaw is going to use his sound converter for the majority of the battle so almost instantly, he manages to disable it. From this point out its not much of a fight. Klaw attempts to land a few punches on Batman but fails miserably. The dark knight hands him a new one and disappears into the darkness.

Lady Deathstrike vs. Batman:
Lady Deathstrike
18 Votes (58.06%)
Batman
13 Votes (41.94%)
Batman realizes from the get-go that Yuriko is not one to take lightly. The dark knight immediately goes on the defensive and attempts to subdue her but can't land a direct blow. Instead, both adversaries are constantly evading each attack and trying to figure out each other's weakness. Unfortunately the biggest weakness for Yuriko is the hatred she has for Wolverine and Bruce isn't that man. But Lady Deathstrike knows even though Batman's a superb fighter, he's only human and that is his weakness. The fighters go on for about 35 minutes and Batman starts to show signs of fatigue, which is when Yuriko strikes. At a moment of weakness, Batman receives a few slashes to the abdomen and a high kick to the face. Lady Deathstrike then lands the final blows and incapacitates Bruce. Although she loves to murder, she lets Bruce live as a fighters respect and walks away...

Leader vs. Batman:
Leader
10 Votes (38.46%)
Batman
16 Votes (61.54%)
Although the Leader is gamma powered, its mostly in his brain. His intelligence is what gets the best of him here because he doesn't realize how smart Batman really is (plus he's not much of a fighter). His telepathy has no affect on the dark knight either because he is far from weak minded. Batman gets close and lays Stearns out without much effort.

Living Laser vs. Batman:
Living Laser
16 Votes (66.67%)
Batman
8 Votes (33.33%)
There isn't really much Batman can do in this battle because Arthur is pure energy. Batman tries everything he has but can't do any damage whatsoever. Finally the Living Laser speeds up behind Batman and exerts himself into laser beams, incapacitating the dark knight.

Lizard vs. Batman:
Lizard
13 Votes (39.39%)
Batman
20 Votes (60.61%)
Although the Lizard is fairly smart when he is in his reptilian form, he still lacks the control and starts to immediately give into his reptilian instinct. Batman starts to treat him like Killer Croc and uses his tactics against Connors. Curt attempts to lash at Bruce with his tail but is dodged every time. The dark knight releases smoke pellets and exploding batarangs all around the Lizard to confuse him. From that point, he moves in and lands a barrage of strike point combos to knock the Lizard out cold.

This round was a pretty evenly matched round. Batman did not take all the villains, but yet had some pretty decent wins. He also had his hands full with some of the combatants.

i think kane & lady deathstrike would give him the best fights.bruce wayne is no way more intelligent than kang.lady deathstrike always gives wolverine a hard time so she'll probably be a pain in the arse for batman as well.

^ "kane" should say "kang".

Honestly, almost everyone on this list should be able to take down Batman.

I guess this is where we separate Batman fans from the quietly desperate, stubbly little loonies who just want to suck Batman's...[record scratches]

Ultron alone can take on the whole Justice League.

@ Destroyer14 - Ultron more than likely could but he's not in my list because it would be way too easy.

vs Hobgoblin: Batman's gadgets are meant to incapacitate or stun. Goblins gadgets are meant to kill. Nuff said.

vs Kang: Kang

vs Klaw: Just to point out, just because Captain America defeated Klaw before, doesnt mean Batman can too. Klaw main weakness is Vibranium, which is what Caps shield is made out of. Klaw would beat Bats.

vs Lady Deathstrike: Deathstrike. She gives Wolverine a rough time almost everytime they fight. But Deathstrike powers gives her an edge.

vs. Leader: Bats would embarrass Leader if it came down to physical combat.

vs. Living Laser: I dont see any way that Bats can defeat the Laser.

vs. The Lizard: Lizard. This isnt Killer Croc. Lizard is faster, stronger, more durable and vicious.

I agree with everyone of your predictions 0SageMode0 except for Hobgoblin. He may have had some experience as Green Goblin before donning the Hobgoblin suit, but he's too inexperienced. I think the Bat will take him easy.

@GLS2814: Well, as long as Hobgoblin stays in the air out of reach on his glider, what can Bats do?
greenlanternsector2814
greenlanternsector2814 - 8/8/2011, 2:24 PM
fair point but Hobby has to get in close enough for an attack and when he does, the bat may be able to hurl an exploding batarang at the glider and decommission it but he also does have jet boots. I'm just chalking Batman's win up to the goblin's inexperience.

@ GreenLanternSector2814

actually, Hobgoblin was never the Green Goblin. They are two different people. Hobgoblin had the same tech as Green Goblin, but he was far less experienced as Green Goblin.

@ CorndogBurglar
actually, this new Hobgoblin (Phil Urich) was a Green Goblin in the mid to late 90's. It was around the time of Onslaught and he had a 12 issue story arc.
