The last time we had an update on SANDMAN, Joseph Gordon-Levitt was busy working a script with David S. Goyer, Jack Thorne and Neil Gaiman

While there hasn’t been much in the way of news or updates on the project since then, it appears they are still pushing this passion project to make it happen soon.

JGL has confirmed that meetings are taking place for the film during a Reddit AMA, and David Goyer is also quoted as saying that WB is “very happy” with the current draft of the script.

Here’s what JGL wrote when asked for a Sandman update on REDDIT

“Been doing a lot of work with David Goyer and Jack Thorne, working on the screenplay. We’ve been doing our meetings at the DC office, which is a frickin rad place to work. Also just had a great conversation last week with David and Mr. Gaiman. Neil has been extremely big hearted with me, and he’s the one I want to please most.”

The quote from David Goyer comes from a DEADLINE article:

“I hesitate to definitively say when it might go before the cameras, but the one thing different between other iterations and ours is that Neil Gaiman has been in the room with us and is a vital part of the team. We have a draft Warners is very happy with and we’re moving forward, knock on wood.”

What do you all think? Are we any closer to getting a Sandman movie off the ground?

@JordanKing- There is a lot of work that has to go into a film before it is given the greenlight. Setting a release date isn't as simple as some people like to believe it is.

@JordanKing

You realize studios don't get a good script and announce a release date hours later right? That isn't how it works. Like even a little.

Sandman is about Morpheus, the god of Dreams. he basically draws his power from the billions of realities that people construct inside their dreams. the series focuses on his interactions with other beings of similar power, including his sister Death, the fallen angel Lucifer, etc.

basically it's an incredibly trippy psychological horror story about a guy with reality warping powers
