The Green Lantern was possibly the most anticipated film of the year. Several trailers showcased great special effects, good action sequences and lots of shots in space, however when the movie came out we were greeted by a horrendous flop. It wasn't that it was a bad film it was just that it didn't live up to the hype it was setting. So I have decided to put together a list of things studios can learn from Green Lantern.
You can never have too much of a good thing
There is no denying that the best parts of the film were set in space and with the corps, so why did we not see much off them. Was it because of budget worries, concerns about finishing the CGI or was it that too much of the focus was already on Earth? Whatever it was sure left disapointment as practically every trailer showed more corps footage that footage set on Earth. Imagine how much better the film would have been if it spent more time in space introducing other places Hal would be defending apart from Earth and less time with Carol.
Don't overhype a film
Before Green Lantern started getting reviewed there was almightily good things being said about it, the biggest one being a comparison to star wars from Ryan Reynolds. Comparing a film to Star wars is going to set the bar pretty high, so either the film is really something special or you have no idea what you are talking about. I'm going with the latter.
Just focus on the one movie
Before Green lantern was even released there was serious talks of turning it into Warner Brothers new trilogy after Christopher Nolans Batman and Harry Potter. This is probably the reason why Sinestro didn't have much to do during the film, so that in a sequel he can create the sinestro corps and fight Hal and the Green Lantern corps.
Never cast Blake Lively
One of the biggest complaints with green lantern viewers so I am not going to dwell on the fact that they cast someone who made me hate the character and made me want to hit them several times and shove green lantern rings in every available orifice.
