20th Century Fox and Walt Disney Studios have released another compelling extended TV spot for James Gray's upcoming sci-fi mystery Ad Astra, which stars Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones.

Walt Disney Studios and 20th Century Fox have shared yet another compelling new TV spot for James Gray's upcoming sci-fi space epic, Ad Astra, featuring tons of new footage and plot details as Academy Award-winner Brad Pitt (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) races against the clock to save the solar system while simultaneously uncovering his father's (Tommy Lee Jones) biggest secrets. 

The film will follow Roy McBride (Brad Pitt), an astronaut who traverses the solar system in a bid to find his long lost father (Tommy Lee Jones), while simultaneously uncovering the shocking truth behind the failure of his dad's initial mission, which, according to the trailers, involved searching for extraterrestrial life. 

In addition to Pitt, the cast features Tommy Lee Jones (Captain America: The First Avenger), Ruth Negga (Preacher), Liv Tyler (The Incredible Hulk), Donald Sutherland (The Hunger Games), Jamie Kennedy (Scream), John Finn (The Walking Dead), Kimberly Elise (Death Wish), Bobby Nish (ER), LisaGay Hamilton (Vice), and John Ortiz (Bumblebee).


 
Astronaut Roy McBride (Brad Pitt) travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet. His journey will uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos.

Looks like it's a bit more "hard sci-fi" than most recent movies and seems to have an Interstellar feel. I also appreciate the little 2001 visual nod. Although, I'm not so sure about another flick dealing with major daddy issues. Might check it out this fall.

@Feralwookiee - It reminds me of old school, Arthur C. Clarke stuff. Can't wait! I love hard sci-fi as opposed to space fantasy that's really flooded the market in the last 20 or so years

Interstellar was pretty incredible imo. Seeing that movie in IMAX was jaw dropping.

@regularmovieguy - Yeah, agreed. But you'll have to admit....there was a certain degree of anti-climax with that movie. Hopefully Ad Astra can fill that void.
