Neill Blomkamp Shares New Concept Art For His ALIEN Movie
Chappie director Neill Blomkamp has taken to Instagram to post another piece of concept art for his Alien project, once again featuring older versions of Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) and Hicks (Michael Biehn). He also offers an update on the movie's progress...
Neill Blomkamp drummed up a lot of excitement when it was announced that he'd be getting to work on an Alien project that would resurrect both Sigourney Weaver's Ripley and Michael Biehn's Hicks, and act as more of a direct sequel to James Cameron's Aliens than "Alien 5". Then, Chappie came out. The movie had its share of fans of course, but the general consensus was that it wasn't the director's best work (by a wide margin) and anticipation for his Alien flick seemed to lessen somewhat. Fortunately Blomkamp himself doesn't seem deterred, posting the image below along with the caption “#alien going very well. Love this project.”
Ripley, Hicks and some new characters speaking to a Colonial Marine type there. We still have no idea how Blomkamp is planning to bring these two back from the dead, or if he's simply going to pretend the last two movies never happened. Whatever is decided that'll probably wind up being the yet-to-be-announced screenwriter's problem. Ridley Scott will produce the film, which is aiming for a 2017 release.
