On the heels of the critically-acclaimed Blade Runner 2049, fans have eagerly awaited news of more content from the cult-classic sci-fi franchise. Titan Publishing and the Aclon Media Group announced a deal in the months following the 2017 sequel for a series of comic tie-ins to expand the Blade Runner universe, and we’ve finally received news of their first venture.
Titans Comics has announced the newest chapter in the franchise entitled Blade Runner 2019, which will be a part of a series of upcoming original comics that will expand the canon of the dystopian sci-fi universe. It is set to be written by Blade Runner 2049 screenwriter Michael Green as well as Mike Johnson (known for his work in the IDW Star Trek comics.) and feature art by Andres Guinaldo (Justice League Dark). It's the first comic book adaptation of the series since Marvel’s attempt in back in 1982.
Per the title, the comic's events will coincide with the original movie, following a female replicant-hunter by the name of Ash. It will also feature other new characters and circumstances, but details are being kept under wraps for now. We'll keep you updated on any new info that surfaces regarding the comic and all-things Blade Runner.
The Blade Runner 2019 comic series is slated to be released this summer.
