"The choice is yours."
The official website for The Matrix: Resurrections launched earlier today, leading to speculation that the trailer might be on the horizon. Now, Warner Bros. has confirmed that we'll be getting our first look at some footage from the highly-anticipated sci-fi sequel this Thursday.
The social media video doesn't feature any shots from the trailer, but if you visit the website and click on either the blue or red pill, you will see some footage. You could get one of several different versions of the teaser, but they all spotlight something of note - including our first glimpse of returning stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss as Neo and Trinity, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as a young Morpheus.
You'll find one of the promos along with some screenshots and an official poster below. We'll update as more find their way online.
The recent CinemaCon footage descriptions certainly gave us a lot more to go on when it comes to the plot. We know that Neo, who now goes by Thomas, has no recollection of the events of the original trilogy, possibly suggesting that he's been plugged back in to The Matrix. Trinity also seems to be in the dark, and the pair don't recognize one another when they meet. The teaser also confirmed that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will be playing a younger version of Morpheus.
The Matrix: Resurrections also stars Jada Pinkett Smith, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick and Jonathan Groff, and is currently set to hit theaters and HBO Max on December 22, 2021.
