THE PREDATOR: New Ultra Hi-Res Stills Spotlight The Yautja's Latest Victims; Plus New Details On The Reshoots

20th Century Fox has released twenty new hi-res promotional stills from Shane Black's The Predator, featuring fresh shots of the human characters that will undoubtedly fall victim to the killer hunters.

With Chris McQuarrie's Mission: Impossible - Fallout opening at the end of the month, 20th Century Fox wisely pushed back Shane Black's The Predator earlier this year to September 14 where it should enjoy a solid uninterrupted run until the opening of Ruben Fleischer's Venom on October 5.

On another note, AVP Galaxy has shared new details on those extensive reshoots and it sounds like there were indeed some significant changes made to the third act, specifically with the "friendly Predators," who have now all been removed, and the death scenes for the more prominent main characters, which have all been completely changed.

The final battle with the upgraded Ultimate Predator will also now take place at night in the woods rather than outside the school, which was what was shown in the latest trailer. Without getting too deep into spoiler territory, the Ultimate Predator will apparently give our heroes a chance to escape before he begins to hunt them one by one, in his quest to uncover the best fighter.

Their report also states that the latest cut contains more scenes that will serve as connecting tissue to the past three Predator films as well as the two poorly-received Alien vs. Predator films. Lex's (Sanaa Lathan) spear will be on display alongside City Hunter's spear from Predator 2 and Casey Bracket (Olivia Munn) will, at some point, be shown a few grainy pictures of Predators from the original two films.

Hot on the heels of his villainous turn in Logan, Boyd Holbrook landed another promising gig in Shane Black's The Predator. He stars as the lead of the film, Quinn McKenna, a former Army Ranger who encounters the Predators upon arrival. However, it sounds like he's going to have trouble convincing others of their existence, at least in the beginning.

Olivia Munn stars as Casey Bracket, a disgruntled science teacher that will, for some reason, team-up with the crew of former soldiers on their suicide mission of stopping the Predators.

While it was previously reported that Casey Bracket (Olivia Munn) was a scientist, it looks like she's actually a science teacher, which explains how she knows Rory McKenna (Jacob Tremblay).

Thomas Jane stars as Baxley, a military veteran who served in Afghanistan and Iraq and during the events of the film, will be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Trevante Rhodes stars as Nebraska Williams, a former Marine and best friend of Quinn McKenna (Boyd Holbrook).

Alfie Allen stars as Lynch, one of the many former soldiers that will team-up with Quinn McKenna (Boyd Holbrook) to stop the Predators. Allen will also return in Game of Thrones next year and will hopefully earn his redemption.

Augusto Aguilera stars as Nettles, a former Blackhawk helicopter pilot that has suffered a traumatic brain injury after a terrifying crash.

Jacob Tremblay stars as Rory McKenna, the son of Quinn (Body Holbrook) and Emily (Yvonne Strahovski), who has a form of autism. He'll inadvertently summon the Predators and will then play a key role in stopping them thanks to his preternatural ability to learn languages.

Keegan-Michael Key stars as Coyle, one of the many former soldiers that will team-up with Quinn McKenna (Boyd Holbrook) to stop the Predator threat.

Sterling K. Brown stars as Will Traeger, an agent who arrests Quinn McKenna (Boyd Holbrook) and later recruits him to help save the day. He also wins the competition for coolest name in The Predator.

Nebraska Williams (Trevante Rhodes) makes a discovery of some sort as Coyle (Keegan-Michael Key) and Baxley (Thomas Jane) look on in the background.

Jake Busey stars as Sean Keyes - the son of Peter Keyes, who was coincidently played by his father Gary Busey in Predator 2

Casey Bracket (Olivia Munn) does her best to protect Rory McKenna (Jacob Tremblay), but could this mean something bad already happened to his mother (Yvonne Strahovski)?

The Yautja throws down in a laboratory of some sort, presumably shortly after waking up in captivity.

It looks like The Predator is still very upset about Wolverine's (Hugh Jackman) death in Logan.

Quinn McKenna (Boyd Holbrook) and Casey Bracket (Olivia Munn) unsuccessfully fight off The Predator in this Empire-exclusive still.

Eight years after Predators, the most lethal hunter in the universe returns to the big-screen in The Predator.

Director Shane Black and the principal cast of The Predator. From left-to-right, we have Sterling K. Brown, Trevante Rhodes, Boyd Holbrook, Jacob Tremblay, Olivia Munn, and Keegan-Michael Key.

From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black's explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe's most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.

The Predator features

Boyd Holbrook as Quinn McKenna
Trevante Rhodes as Nebraska Williams

I'm darn excited. Smart moves too if the re-shoot reports are correct. The predator at no point should be seen as any sort of an ally (ala enemy of my enemy in AvP).

@MosquitoFarmer - To be fair it was a good plot point just executed terribly. I liked the idea of a rogue Predator with no help from his people having no choice but to temporarily join forces with humans to defeat a greater threat.

"I can't hunt for challenges if there are no more challengers"

Kind of thing.

@SonOfAGif - As far as plot points and trajectories go that is fair. But when it comes to slasher-style horror villains, to make them relatable or sympathetic has to be handled very carefully. They opted to make Chucky, Voorhees, Krueger, and whomever else into jokes down the line.

Is Munn a scientist or Lara Croft?

Thomas Jane, what are you doing!?! You're supposed to be investigating a different alien species!!

In seriousness though, this is interesting about them connecting to the previous films (besides the obvious first Predator), even the AvP films. Predator [and even Aliens] still have so much potential, hopefully this movie is terrific.

@HeavyMetal4Life - but that technically means that the predator series isn't in canon with alien since the aliens were on earth so many years ago despite basically being created in the future.
HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 7/7/2018, 12:13 PM
@Origame - yeah I know, it doesn't make sense BUT we did see a mural of an Alien in Prometheus. The Predators could have fought the Engineers and taken control of some of their bioweaponry and then created the Aliens...
Origame

@HeavyMetal4Life - I dont know. I mean, even then that doesn't explain how aliens were on earth in a small town for requiem then its said that aliens weren't known by humans until Ripley.

Off topic: My parents convinced me to go to a casino with them and my sisters this weekend... Terrible mistake. I knew the odds of losing and only spent as much as I willing to lose and it still sucked. They told me even when your losing its fun just to play, but it's not. I believed it at first, I was comparing it to the strip club in my head. What I didn't take into account was that while I have spent more than I wanted in a Strip club and felt bad about it, it wasn't all bad because I got something in return. Watching the slots take my money didn't do shit for me.

Sorry about the rant, just needed to get that off my chest and hopefully give warning to any of you who may be thinking about going to a casino. Would rant to my friends if they weren't working, and I can't rant to my family; got to pretend I'm having a good time to not spoil the vacation.

I'm excited for the movie and like him as an actor but Keegan-Michael Key automatically makes any scene hes in look like a MadTV skit

The idea of Predators relying to humans to help them fight the Upgrade Predators wasn't bad when I read the script.

On a positive note I like the fact that the Alien VS Predator movies are considered canon...I liked the first one second was going somewhere but they dropped the ball.

I seriously want FOX to give AVP an another shot

I just hope The Preadtor doesn't end up being a rehash of the original movie with a bigger badder Predator.
