LucasFilm Drops The First Look At Kylo Ren's Starfighter From STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI

Kylo Ren will be terrorizing the galaxy in a new ride when Star Wars: The Last Jedi debuts in theaters. The starfighter, called the TIE Silencer, was debuted at San Diego Comic-Con by LucasFilm.

LucasFilm did not specify too many details on the ship, but did offer up some information. “Ren is an expert pilot — thanks to skills passed down from his father — which he puts to use in exploiting his ship’s speed and ferocity. There is no other First Order craft like the TIE silencer, and it is an effective tool in Ren’s mission to destroy the Resistance."

Entertainment Weekly points out that the TIE Silencer draws its influence from the TIE Interceptor, but is also a little reminiscent of Darth Vader's TIE Advanced 1 that he used to chase down Luke in the famous Trench Run from Star Wars: A New Hope.

Check out the image below, and catch Star Wars: The Last Jedi when it hits theaters on December 15, 2017.

There is no other First Order craft like the TIE silencer.

Why? If it's so good, why not make a ton of them rather than TIE fighters?

@xAdam - yeah that has never made sense to me.

@xAdam - The same can be said for Storm Trooper armor. Lightsabers and lasers penetrate them so what is the point of the armor if it doesn't protect them from anything?

@SonOfAGif - maybe if they didn't have such clunky armor they would have better aim too.

This is just my thoughts on the discussion. Kylo Ren is clearly not all there. Acts like a child. Is a little b*tch. So it makes sense there's only one badass ship, just for him. Cause he'd want his ship to be faster and better then the rest of the First Order. If his was the same as everyone's, he'd probably be pissed that he's the same as everyone else.

Secondly the stormtrooper armor. I agree it's dumb that it hasn't shown any resistance and has the dexterity of an egg shell. But the way the storm troopers work is that they are meant for intimidation. Other then a few pathetic resistance fighters, there's no one really who stands up to the First Order or even the Empire at that. They rule by fear. And creating a specialty armor for millions of storm troopers to combat a small handful of Jedi would not make too much sense.

lol thank you I'm done now. Carry on

@DarkArrow19 @noahthegrand @sonofagif - Okay, we all really know it's to sell toys. And make it easier to determine which ship Kylo's in when there's a battle going on.

@xAdam - Probably because it's expensive as [frick]. Just like some irl military equipment.

@CuddlyCereal - Knew someone would say some shit like this. Come on, does it look it? No. It looks about as expensive as an interceptor and that wasn't one of a kind.

@xAdam - maybe it's a work of art that took years to engineer, with rare materials.

No idea why you are getting like this.

It's a bad guy's special ship in a movie about space lasers. We are just going to use our imagination to explain it, and the movie sure as [frick] doesn't have to tell us why it exists.

Anyone hear they're remaking " Invasion of The Bodysnatchers"

http://screenrant.com/invasion-body-snatchers-remake-writer-warner-bros/

The original was an alagory for communism and it slowly infecting our society, but I think at this point that’s old and overplayed. They could do something about other cultures, but it could end up being a bit racist so maybe not. But, the aspects of individuality are very intriguing so there's that. It’s difficult to think of what exactly the film would be an alagory for in this day and age, the original has a message, so this one needs an updated version. Perhaps it could be an alagory for a lone individual living in a society rapidly being over taken by facism forces as everyone around him begins to change, becoming alien to him figuratively and literally. That’s what the original did, and it’s a timeless idea, so maybe stick to that. But, what if we make the guy not that great a person in this version?

We can see that through an alien hive mind, there is order, they “make the trains run on time” but there’s no freedom, no individuality, only the Pod People. It would be a cool way to expand on the original idea while staying true to the source. Also, it would reflect on our times. The names change, but the ideas don’t. We still have people that prefer to be part of a collective, remaining uninformed and seeking to destroy or force outsiders “the individual” to their will. We attack other religions and cultures. One of humanities shortcomings is how difficult it is for us to go beyond our social groups and unite, but individuality is a strength. Our differences make us stronger. That’s evolution. We kill each other, we’re racist, we pick the strong to lead instead of the smart, but still, I wouldn’t change that. Because, we learn from each other, and we become better.

@noahthegrand - good, hopefully this means marvel won't make secret invasion, for fear of being called a ripoff.

I absolutely hate "everyone is disguised" storylines.

@ALostCause - not me. I feel you could have great conflict with avengers being replaced one by one and not even the audience, let alone the heroes knowing who to trust until it's too late and the invasion is at our door.

@ODanil - Honestly though, not enough is said about Return of the Jedi. The family dynamic is great. The battle of good vs evil is presented the best. Luke is a badass. The Jabba stuff is a really cool and interesting addition to the universe
