THOR: RAGNAROK Star Idris Elba Doesn't Want To Hear Your Complaints About THE DARK TOWER
The Dark Tower was not particularly well-received by critics or fans of the Stephen King novels and Idris Elba has now commented on both that and where he believes the franchise could go from here...
The Dark Tower has made only $107 million at the worldwide box office and that's made left the fate of both a sequel and that planned TV series in some serious doubt. The movie was not received particularly well by critics despite boasting an impressive cast which included Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey and now the former has explained why he really doesn't care about what people think.
"Ultimately, everyone has an opinion and that’s okay," the Thor: Ragnarok actor revealed. "I’d imagine that a film like The Dark Tower — if you know anything about the literature — it’s a very hard book to digest, and it’s definitely a hard book to adapt. Until one of the reviewers that had something to say adapts it and does a great job, well I don’t want to hear what they have to say."
It's a fair point but with rumoured behind the scenes problems, you have to believe that Elba isn't happy with how the Stephen King adaptation turned out, especially as this should have given him his own franchise as a leading man. Regardless, the actor is uncertain what comes next for the franchise.
"Yeah, I don’t actually know, if I’m really honest. I do know about the TV series and I’m not sure where we are with that, but I couldn’t tell you what’s going to happen next. As you know the film was sort of mixed reviews, and some loved it and I think some hated it, so who knows." Would you guys like to see The Dark Tower franchise continue or is it best to leave the books well alone now?
