AVATAR Re-Release Features A Post-Credits Scene With An Added Surprise Ahead Of AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER

The Avatar re-release has started arriving in theaters, and rumour has it that you'll want to stick around after the credits for a little bonus teasing December's Avatar: The Way of Water. Check it out!

With the Avatar re-release starting to roll out into theaters across the globe, social media is abuzz with the news that there's a surprise at the end of the credits for fans who choose to stick around.

The movie didn't feature a post-credits scene in 2009, though we're sure it would have done had they been as popular then as they are now (don't forget, Iron Man only came out the year before James Cameron's 3D blockbuster). However, rather than a scene simply teasing Avatar: The Way of Water, moviegoers are being treated to new footage from the upcoming sequel!

It appears that depending on which theater you visit and where you live, varying previews are being shown. There's even speculation that what you get will differ depending on if your screen is outfitted for HFR or not. It's an interesting decision, but one that's only going to build buzz for the next movie. It may also encourage moviegoers to go and watch the Avatar re-release more than once, particularly if doing so means getting a different sneak peek.

The response thus far has been extremely positive, anyway, and this is definitely a fun way to hype Avatar: The Way of Water (instead of just releasing a new trailer as we initially expected).

Avatar is currently playing in Korea and France and hits pretty much everywhere this weekend aside from China and Russia. With nothing else of note arriving in theaters, we expect the blockbuster to head straight to #1.

Written and directed by Cameron, Avatar stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez, and Sigourney Weaver.

The film was produced by James Cameron and Jon Landau, and ended up being nominated for nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. Ultimately, Avatar won three Oscars for Best Cinematography, Production Design, and Visual Effects.

To whet audiences' appetites, Disney/20th Century Studios will re-release Avatar in theaters on September 23. As for Avatar: The Way of Water, that arrives in theaters worldwide on December 16.

@AmazingFILMporg - the re release or the sequel? Lol.

I'm waiting for the sequel tickets to go on sale. Hoping to see it at the BFI iMax in London on release day.

I remember seeing the first one there and it's really the only time my jaw dropped from 3d and how massive that screen was only helped fully immerse you!

Cameron making sure his shit stay number 1! He deserves to have the ego he does to be fair. Numbers don't lie (until they do)

@theprophet - yeah, the movie wasn't even that good what people makes it look like. I think it was just because it was first of a kind and now there are plenty of these

@GreedoSarducci - right. Which have great stories. So I'm wondering why when it comes to avatar, it's considered a bad story if it's allegedly the same
GreedoSarducci
GreedoSarducci - 9/24/2022, 2:09 PM
@Vigor - I don't consider it a bad story, I just consider it a ripoff. If it weren't for the fancy visuals nobody would give it the time of day.

People are ragging on this movie being "bad". I don't think it's bad. It's an interesting film aesthetically and it's well crafted. But the story is super derivative and devoid of any originality. I certainly hope James does what he excels at which is sequels. He does find a way to add on to an already established canon. Maybe he can let some creativity shine her. I'll certainly give it a chance, especially if the reviews are good. We'll see.

I might give this a rewatch on Disney+, whether it has some extra scenes or not.

The idea of different scenes depending on certain factor is fun though. Especially with a streaming service show it could be an interesting experiment. Depending on what the algorithm thinks you like, you get a certain ending while someone else get's another.

I still remember the sheer awe of seeing this film in modern 3D for the first time... aside from Beowulf, it was the first PROPER shot-in-3D film with the new not-blue-and-red glasses - that's where most of the initial success comes from tbh.

I'm mainly gonna see this again for the James Horner score - one of his best, RIP!
