After years of hearing about an Avatar video game, Ubisoft finally revealed Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora earlier this month. The developer gave us our first look at the first-person, action-adventure game during E3 and provided an overview of what we can expect through a first look trailer.

In a new video released today, Ubisoft goes into a bit more depth about the technology behind Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. The game is built on the latest iteration of the Snowdrop engine, Ubisoft's proprietary game engine created by Massive Entertainment, the studio developing the game in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney.

The Snowdrop engine is probably most recognized for Tom Clancy's The Division franchise. As Technical Art Director Sebastian Lindoff explains, the engine allowed Ubisoft to build "amazing cities." But Pandora, of course, is a much different environment, brimming with life and majestic in scale. To capture the natural beauty of Pandora, Ubisoft had to make massive improvements to the Snowdrop engine.

Check out the video below, as Ubisoft developers dive deeper into the technical details behind Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and how they are helping recreate this immersive world from the deep dense jungles to the grand vistas high in the skies.

Built using the latest iteration of the Snowdrop engine, and developed exclusively for the new generation of consoles and PC, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora brings to life the alluring world of Pandora with all of its beauty and danger in an immersive, open world experience.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is slated to launch in 2022 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Stadia and Luna. The game features an original, standalone story in which you'll play as a Na'vi and embark on a journey across the never-before-seen Western Frontier of Pandora.

Got to wonder what Seinfeld is like in this universe if there was no superman comics for Jerry to be obsessed with and without

With a full theme park area dedicated to it (with a pretty cool attraction in Banshee's Flight), a bunch of sequels, and now this videogame, this world of Avatar still doesn't manage to interest me.

The 2009 movie was great for it's technical achievements, and those achievements were the only reason that world looked interesting. Same goes for the story, which was also omly really serviceable to bringing that world alive.

In short, how impressive the world of Avatar is and looks, I can't find a reason why it should interest me or why I should want to return to it.

Snowdrop has shown huge potential since the first time I saw them demo it when making The Division. Just Hope this game doesn't have the same amount of bugs as The Division. Not interested in Avatar but I am interested in Good Games. So I guess we will see.

Looks shit. Just like the extremely over-inflated dancing with wolves reimagining
