Deadline has learned that Bloodshot director David S.F. Wilson has been tapped to helm Sony Pictures' upcoming film adaptation of Daniel Suarez's 2014 Prometheus Award-winning sci-fi novel, Influx.
Zak Olkewicz (Fear Street) has been tasked with writing the script.
The plot of the novel centers around a physicist who finds himself locked away in a high-tech prison just as he's on the verge of making a groundbreaking discovery that could change the world. However, once imprisoned, he quickly learns that a shadowy organization has been responsible for keeping the biggest technological advances for themselves and out of the hands of humanity at large. With the clock ticking, he and his brilliant fellow inmates must band together to find a way to fight back.
While Wilson's directorial debut, Bloodshot, saw its theatrical run cut drastically short last month due to the coronavirus pandemic and widespread theater shut down, the Valiant Comics adaptation has been performing exceedingly well on Digital HD platforms, opening as a Top 5 title since its digital launch.
