Warner Bros. and Legendary are courting Florence Pugh to play Princess Irulan Corrino in Denis Villeneuve's Dune sequel.
Though the Black Widow star is said to be in advanced negotiations for the part, it's not quite a done deal just yet. THR reports that Pugh is still waiting to read the completed script, and scheduling could also be an issue if she lands a role in the upcoming Madonna biopic which is also expected to begin shooting this summer.
If Pugh does sign on, she'll play the daughter of Emperor Shaddam IV, who was responsible for ordering the Atreides family to Arrakis and supported the Harkonnen plot to eliminate their rival House. Casting for the Emperor is also underway, along with the Baron's sadistic nephew Feyd Rautha.
Part 2 will pick up where the first film left off, with Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) and his mother Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) joining the Fremen in their fight to free Arrakis from the grip of the ruthless Harkonnen occupiers. All of the main cast are expected to return.
Dune: Part 2 is set to hit theaters on Oct. 20, 2023. Head on over to SFFGazette.com for more.
