Like many events, last year's Her Universe Geek Couture Fashion Show was cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with Comic-Con@Home taking place this past weekend, it returned as a virtual show on Friday and proved to be a must-watch for geek fashion fans!
Shortly before that took place, Her Universe founder and The Clone Wars star Ashley Eckstein announced that the winner - who will be revealed here tomorrow - is going to be given the opportunity to design a Jurassic World collection for Hot Topic. When we had the actress on the phone last week, we asked about the significance of that, and she shared her excitement for the big reveal.
"We’re very, very excited to be able to announce during the show on Friday that the winners are going to get to design a Jurassic World collection with Her Universe for Hot Topic. We haven’t done this before with the fashion show, so this is a new [idea] we haven’t done with previous winners," Eckstein explained. "We know it’s something fans are very eager for."
"One of our past winners, Adria Renee, won with a Jurassic Park-inspired couture design and the fans just flipped for it! Everyone just went crazy for her design and we have a huge fanbase for Jurassic Park and Jurassic World, so we’re very, very excited to bring our community some Jurassic World fashion. It’s not just t-shirts, but fashion. So, look forward to it in 2022! The designers, once they win, they get to work right away and the collection comes out the following year, so we’re really, really excited to surprise the designers with that on Friday and get to work immediately."
The Her Universe fashion show was a blast, and we'd strongly recommend checking it out. Ashley even debuted an amazing Jurassic World-inspired couture dress, and we'll be keeping a close eye on which of the talented designers end up being given this incredible opportunity to work with Hot Topic.
