JURASSIC WORLD DOMINION Still Features Laura Dern's Ellie As Actress Says Director Made Big Returns "Matter"

This summer, Universal Pictures is finally set to release the epic conclusion to the Jurassic era as two generations unite for the first time. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are joined by Oscar-winner Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill in Jurassic World Dominion, a bold, timely and breathtaking new adventure that will span the globe and highlight a lot of epic dinosaur action.

The original Jurassic Park put the franchise on the map, with set pieces unlike anything we'd seen on screen before 1993. The aforementioned trio ensured we fell in love with the human characters as well, and they'll reunite for the first time since that movie in Colin Trevorrow's threequel.

Talking to Empire Online (via SFFGazette.com), the filmmaker reflected on his attempts to convince Dern and Neill to reprise their roles. "At the beginning of that, [Neill] probably was looking at me with a certain amount of skepticism and side-eye," Trevorrow admits. "I’m not Steven Spielberg. I never will be. And so I really had to start from scratch in convincing these people that I was going to be able to guide them through the return to these characters that mean so much to them."

Neill had high praise for the director, saying he reminded him of Spielberg. Dern, meanwhile, added that "Colin was really keen to make it matter. We discover what it would feel like if these three characters came back together, and how they would feel about each other. And it’s delicious."

With these comments comes a new still from Jurassic World Dominion featuring Dr. Sattler getting hands-on with a baby Nasutoceratops. Trevorrow clearly plans to keep things practical as much as possible, and that hopefully means this next movie will retain the charm of the original.

Jurassic World Dominion finally roars into theaters on June 10.

Skeptical at best for this. I will probably see it in theaters simply becuz of the big three returning, and i've always loved dinosaurs since i was a little kid. With that said, the JW franchise is crap compared to the original JP movies. the first JP was the first movie i ever saw in the theater 3x. a true classic and still looks great today. i will gladly eat crow if i'm wrong on this movie, but it doesnt look anything great

@IronGenesis - "Colin was really keen to make it matter. We discover what it would feel like if these three characters came back together, and how they would feel about each other."

Yeah, I was thinking the other day when I read this that Star Wars could have used some of that.

@IronGenesis - I wonder how Trevorrow's gonna handle it, and if he'll show how much we missed out on if he made IX

@Fogs, @bobevanz - Thanks for the heads up! I've actually been in and adjusting some of the load balancing settings this morning to see if I can get it cleared up.

If it services the story (I would say main character like with No Way Home, but I'm not sure Dominion has one standout protagonist), then I'm all for it. Especially if they get arcs of their own
