Turns out that rumor about Leonard Nimoy appearing in the Star Trek sequel while wearing "stately robes" has finally been laid to rest, as the man who portrayed Spock-PRIME has just debunked the long-standing rumor of his involvement with the film.
"I visited the set one day and that started some speculation about whether I was doing the film. It's all speculation. I talk to these people regularly. Zachary Quinto and I have dinner whenever we can. We just had dinner three or four weeks ago. I talk to J.J. about family."
Mr. Nimoy had in fact visited the set for a very specific reason and that was...
"I visited the set one day because I had never seen the bridge. When I was in the last film, none of my work was on the bridge of the Enterprise. So I wanted to see the bridge, and the bridge was extraordinary."
So there ya have it folks, NO Nimoy in the Star Trek sequel. Want further proof?
~Speaking to another site, Collider, about his rumored involvement in the untitled Star Trek sequel, the veteran thesp said,
"Well, my feeling is that they don't need me. They've got a wonderful cast. Zachary Quinto has taken on the character of Spock, and I think he is wonderfully suited."
But the rumor of Nimoy playing Spock while wearing "stately robes" debuted alongside the rumor of Benedict Cumberbatch playing a certain baddie- Khan. So is it possible that like the Leonard Nimoy rumor being total smoke and mirrors, that too shall the Cumberbatch as Khan rumors be nothing but a bunch of nonsense? We shall wait and see.
