Keanu Reeves reprises perhaps his most famous role as Neo in The Matrix Resurrections, but for many fans, seeing the John Wick star join the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become a must. He remains a fan-favourite choice to take on the role of Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider, of course, and with rumours swirling about the Spirit of Vengeance's return to the big screen, his MCU debut could be imminent.
That's pure speculation, of course, but Reeves set the record straight on his possible MCU involvement during a recent interview with ComicBook.com. "We have met, and [Kevin Feige]'s a cool cat. Yeah," the actor recently confirmed. "But no, we don't have anything, gotta find something."
Asked specifically which character he could play or what franchise he'd like to join, Reeves added: "Oh my gosh, I don't know! I actually don't have an answer. There [are] so many wonderful films and filmmakers and artists participating in those films."
These comments echo what Feige himself said back in 2019 when he noted, "We talk to [Keanu] for almost every film we make. I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it." The actor has had something of a career resurgence in recent years, so teaming with Marvel Studios would definitely make sense for him. There had been rumblings Reeves would play Moon Knight, but that role ultimately went to Oscar Isaac.
We're still hoping he gets to take a shot at Ghost Rider, but Reeves is clearly waiting until Feige and company can offer him something that resonates with him as a performer.
