PREY Stills Shift The Spotlight To The Movie's Leads...And Offer Our Best Look Yet At The New Predator!

Hulu has shared a huge gallery of new stills from Prey, and these offer our best look yet at not just the movie's leads, but the redesigned Predator that looks set to menace the Comanche Nation warriors.

Prey is the latest entry in the Predator franchise, and we now have another batch of stills (via SFFGazette.com) from the Hulu Original before it arrives on the streaming service on August 5.

Along with offering a much closer look at the reboot's lead characters, we finally get to see the redesigned Predator in all its horrifying glory. This movie follows members of the Comanche Nation and is set in the 1700s, meaning it marks what we believe will be the iconic alien's first visit to Earth.

While we appreciate a closer look at the warriors that will square off with the Predator, this is the first time we've got to see the monster in such a detailed way. After hiding it in shadow, for the most part, or just showing it from behind, this is a welcome sight and one that proves this new take on the alien is one that the team working on this reboot has absolutely nailed.

It definitely looks less sci-fi and more like a warrior, but that makes sense when this story is set hundreds of years before the events of 1987's Predator. Of course, if you'd rather wait for the movie itself, step away now as that is only just a few days away from arriving on Hulu.

Prey tells the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior who has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains.

So when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

The movie is directed by Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane), written by Patrick Aison (Jack Ryan), and also stars newcomer Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp (Sooyii), Michelle Thrush (The Journey Home), Julian Black Antelope (Tribal), and Dane DiLiegro (American Horror Stories) as the Predator.

I am definitely paying the extra few dollars for Hulu (for a month) to watch this a couple of times and whatever else they have I want to see within a month.

I want to see this, looks good.
I’m interested in seeing why this Native American can defeat an advanced alien hunter that usually wipes the earth with elite tough guys.

@slickrickdesigns - the historical fact the Comanche nation were empire & they were imperialistic they brutally wipes out nearly other 200 tribes to extinction & they practiced slavery

@zeon00 - you’re one of those white supremacists that justify the mass genocide of the natives using this don’t you?

@slickrickdesigns - weird how Sarah Conner could beat the futuristic and advanced killer robot in the first movie when she was weak and scared but none of you guys bring that up because you grew up with it. If the same movie came out now and nothing changed you would have called it woke.

@TheSuperMex - disagree… Terminator like most horror movies in the 80’s had a leading lady who ran for her life more than fighting the terminator and like most 80’s movies she beat it by sheer luck by crushing the robot in a factory she just so happened to run into.
All I’m saying is I’m interested in seeing how this plays out.
What’s the deal with “ If the same movie came out now and nothing changed you would have called it woke.”??
You seem like you’re trying to start an argument over something that has nothing to do with my comment.

@zeon00 - what does that have to do with my comment?

@slickrickdesigns - my apologies. I thought you were being like the 1000 other idiots who are bitching about about a native woman fighting a alien because it isn’t realistic.

Even though this will likely be mediocre to terrible imo, I find it pretty interesting pop culturewise.

I'd like to preface everything here by saying, I'm not really taking a stand on this either way, but I'm curious what others think.

Has there been any outcry of "exploitation" yet or are they spinning this as "empowering"? A bunch of Native persons being hunted down and slaughtered by alien invaders sure can be an allegory, but it also can be viewed as tasteless and insensitive by modern standards.

Also, this movie seems to be receiving some praise for using an all American Indian cast, yet the same people praising it fail to mention that there are NO American Indians involved in the writing, directing, or producing of the film. This movie literally COULD be viewed as a modern version of blackface to some extent, white non-Native writers and directors literally putting words in the minority cast's mouths.

Again, I'm not saying I personally feel this way, but I'm wondering if any folks younger than me and more culturally hip see it that way or are bothered by these aspects.

All the potential "political" agreements aside, it would be nice to have a good raw Predator movie again after all these years, but this is modern Hollywood, which all it does is mine properties to death regardless of quality. The director doesn't have much of a track record; there hasn't been a good Predator flick in decades imo; and this is straight to streaming. I may be wrong, but these generally aren't the signs of a masterpiece.
