REBEL MOON: CHALICE OF BLOOD(?) - Extended Cut Officially Rated R For "Gore, Sexual Content, & Graphic Nudity"

Though this hasn't been officially announced, it seems the extended cuts of Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon will have completely different titles when they hit Netflix...

Both parts of Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon, A Child of Fire and The Scargiver, are now streaming on Netflix, but we know that extended editions of the sci-fi adventures are on the way, and it seems they've been given completely different titles.

Though this has yet to be made official, Film Ratings lists the director's cut of Part 1 as "Rebel Moon - Chapter One: Chalice Of Blood," and the movie has also been given an official R-rating for "brutal bloody violence and gore, sexual content, graphic nudity, and language".

As Snyder has previously noted, it sounds like these extended cuts are going to be significantly more adult-oriented than the standard versions.

"They're each about an hour longer than the originals, the PG-13 [versions]," the filmmaker told I Minutemen in a recent interview. "So it'll be nice to see the six hours together. You can take a break, of course. It's a more, maybe, immersive experience. I'm interested for people to see it that way. It's very adult, it's very R-rated."

Despite being lambasted by critics, the Rebel Moon movies have pulled in a lot of viewers and performed very well for Netflix, which means we will most likely see sequels down the line.

Snyder has already confirmed that he has ideas for as many as six movies.

"Four or six movies, depending... I guess it's whether or not every time we make one of these movies we make two, that's the question," Snyder told the Radio Times in a recent interview. "We were talking about it the other day and I was like, would an audience be disappointed if they only got one movie now from Rebel Moon? Would they be like, 'Oh, it's one now? Great.'"

What did you make of the Rebel Moon movies? Do you plan on watching the extended cuts? Be sure to drop us a comment down below.

Rebel Moon - Part 2 sees the return of Sofia Boutella as Kora, the titular Scargiver, Michiel Huisman, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Staz Nair, Ed Skrein, and Anthony Hopkins as the voice of evolving robot guardian Jimmy. The sequel will also feature Fra Fee, Cleopatra Coleman, Stuart Martin, Ingvar Sigurðsson, Alfonso Herrera, Cary Elwes, Rhian Rees, Elise Duffy, Sky Yang, and Charlotte Maggi.

"Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver continues the epic saga of Kora and the surviving warriors as they prepare to sacrifice everything, fighting alongside the brave people of Veldt, to defend a once peaceful village, a newfound homeland for those who have lost their own in the fight against the Motherworld. On the eve of their battle, the warriors must face the truths of their own pasts, each revealing why they fight. As the full force of the Realm bears down on the burgeoning rebellion, unbreakable bonds are forged, heroes emerge, and legends are made."

Unless Joss Whedon made the first one, I don't think this Synder cut is going to be The Syunder Cut.

@HashTagSwagg - hot take: if Joss Whedon made the movies they'd be better.

@Blergh - If he made it from scratch, yeah, I don't think that would be much of a hot take, however if he was trying to tell someone else's story, that's a different story.

@AnthonyVonGeek - Zack should make an adaption of Thundergun Express! He'll return the franchise to it's roots and we'll pirate the sh*t out of the movie! Take that Hollywood bozos!

If more of these films get greenlit, it may be time to give up on cinema

The one thing I don't understand is, if Netflix didn't impose any restrictions and he made the movies in his unique style, primarily catering to his fan base... why did he still create two versions? Why did he feel the need to censor himself and remove his stuff?

@MyCoolYoung - because they think we're all morons.

The important thing about directors cut was because movie theater show times effects how much money you can make. But this is [frick]ing streaming, so it makes no [frick]ing sense.

@EgoEgor - genuinely makes no sense. He makes movies for fans of his style he could’ve went full Snyder first time around but he choose to subdue himself just to release it again later

I have tried to watch Rebel Moon on three occasions and I cannot make it through the film.

I think the only question now is if Zack Snyder will win more Razzies than Denis Villeneuve wins Oscars.

So now he can show the rape and tentacle porn without implying it? what a filmmaker! What a storyteller!

OK...Unpopular opinion apparently, but I enjoyed them both and am looking forward to spending 6 hours with the new versions. Certainly not Great, but enjoyable escapism.

I haven’t seen the PG-13 versions because I knew the unrated rated R cuts were coming which would show Snyders true vision to these movies.
