RIDDICK 4: FURYA Star Vin Diesel Shares New Concept Art For Upcoming Sci-Fi Sequel

It's been quite a while since we had any updates on this one, but Vin Diesel has now taken to social media to share new concept art from the fourth Riddick movie, believed to be titled Furya...

Vin Diesel announced that a fourth Riddick movie was officially in the works back in 2019, but updates have been few and far between since. Now, the Fast X actor has taken to Instagram to share the first official concept art for Furya.

The designs feature a rather intimidating-looking character (possibly a fellow Furyan) and Richard B. Riddick himself leaping into action.

Director David Twohy is expected to return to helm Furya. Plot details are still a mystery, but given the title, we assume that the story will at least partially play out on Riddick's home planet.

The previous film concluded with Riddick escaping a treacherous planet with enemy-turned-ally, Dahl. We have heard that Katee Sackhoff (The Mandalorian) may reprise the role, but that's yet to be confirmed.

Though these movies are clearly passion projects for Diesel, it's worth noting that only 2000's Pitch Black proved to be a success - and that was at least partially down to its relatively low budget.

Sequel The Chronicles of Riddick poured a lot more money into VFX in an attempt to launch a new sci-fi blockbuster franchise, but the movie failed to connect with audiences or critics. 2013's Riddick (who names these bloody things?) did do slightly better, however, so perhaps there is a market for another instalment.

I admire everyone's dedication to a middling franchise. After the next F&F movie, Vin will probably go back to do another xXx movie.

@JoeInTheBox - Pitch Black is genuinely a good movie, the others at least have fun characters. The Die Hard franchise of sci-fi movies

@UncleHarm1 - I meant middling in terms of success. Pitch Black is unquestionably a good movie. Just was not meant to kickoff a huge franchise. Had they kept ambitions and budgets small, this could have coasted off mid-low budget installments for years, like the Resident Evil and Underworld movies.

I know Peacock is losing money, but a Riddick show, six-episode seasons, would probably do well on it, considering the best installments have had the lower budgets.

@JoeInTheBox - I would definitely watch a Riddick show it wouldn't even have to be good lol. I feel like everything that made xXx special though has been cribbed for Fast and Furious by now tho

Vin trying to get his next job knowing F and F coming to an end..

I didn't mind Riddicks 1 and 3. 2 was a bit full on.

xXx 4(3) I'd much rather see though. That ice cube cameo at the end wasn't enough. Need to see them team up properly.

I always thought Chronicles of Riddick was badass, especially the extended version.

Name one Vin Diesel movie, where he is the lead character, without the words “fast” or “furious” in the title that didn’t flop at the box office.

There was a third movie?

I find out about this, and that Burt Bacharach and Lee Modec are both died today. So far not that great a morning.
