ROBOCOP Live-Action Web Series From Machinima Announced

In addition to Starman, Dial H for Hero and Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles season 2 announced at Machinima's Heroes Rise press event, a RoboCop series is also in the works.

Machinima is rolling out an ambtious new slate of programming with such titles as Starman, Dial H for Hero and Justice League: Gods and Monsters leading the way.  However, the most ambitious project may be a live-action RoboCop series that imagines not one...but a whole police force full of RoboCops.  Check out the details below.

RoboCop returns to Delta City where viewers ride along with the now standard-issue RoboCop officers as they respond to calls from dispatch. Tapping into current themes of the surveillance state, the series is shot from the first person point of view of the RoboCop officers’ heads up display, along with security cameras, dash-cams, and drones.

There's no official word yet on whether the web series will have connections to the 1987 RoboCop film starring Peter Weller or the 2014 reboot starring Joel Kinniman.   With successful web series adaptations of Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter, perhaps Machinima can rekindle RoboCop's franchise fire.

I guess I'll give it a look, being a fan of Robocop, but I can't help but wonder how they can do it properly on a smaller budget

It'd have a neat HUD display. Wonder how futuristic Machinima's willing to go with that.

Why not a sequel to the reboot? Its not like it bombed... disappointing, but not a bomb.

@JamesMann
Not at the boxoffice, but nobody liked it and it probably wouldn't make much with the sequel.

If only this were a Netflix series. Then there'd be something to be excited about.

First person display??? Sounds like a video game pr found footage....there's been toooo much of that. Why can't they keep it simple. Sounds like a fan fiction I read of robocop once

The first movie was cool, the 2nd was okay but had some stupid parts in it. The 3rd was Awful. The reboot was generic and pretty much lost the charm and violence of the original. I remember there was a Robocop live action tv series years ago and it sucked.

I was interested in the Robocop series, but after hearing their approach to it... I'll pass.

It sounds super gimmicky.
