Chris Pine Thinks STAR TREK 3 Is In Good Hands With Simon Pegg

In an interview with MTV's Josh Horowitz, the man who will return to the role of Captain James T. Kirk for a third time in the new Star Trek movie gives his thoughts on the news that his pal and co-star Simon Pegg will be co-writing the script.

The other day we got the somewhat surprising news that Simon Pegg (Scotty) would be co-writing the third (well, technically the thirteenth) Star Trek movie with Doug Jung. MTV asked one of his co-stars in the previous films, Chris Pine, for his thoughts on that during an interview at the Sundance Film Festival, where the Into the Woods actor was joined by his Z For Zachariah castmates, Margot Robbie and Chiwetel Eljiofor. Pine seems happy that Pegg's involvement likely means a bit more humor, though he also jokes that he's worried about long "Scotty monologues".

"What I enjoy about it is we have a laugh. We want to make sure it's embedded in there so having Simon write it is the perfect fit."

wow looks like they are making good on that threat to make star trek less like star trek and more like guardians of the galaxy. I will be giving part 3 a miss.

The only thing he could say about the direction of Star Trek 3 is that it was going to have humor since we all really love a laugh.

Oh boy. This production is in trouble.

Star Trek 2009 was a remake of Police Academy. Star Trek Into Darkness was Star Trek II The Wrath Of Khan feminized. The Abrams Dumbass Trek needs to be scrapped and Trek needs to go back to the original canon and to TV and be done like TNG with an intellectual approach about man's potential for growth. Not Abram's look at man as a f cktard in the 23rd century.

I have zero faith in this 3rd outing. I don't like simon pegg. He is garbage and his portrayal of scotty sucked. I thought he was the worst casting in JJ's films. The guy that plays chekhov was the second. Couldn't they hire a real russian actor or even a real scotsman ?

Why don't they get Edgar Wright to direct? Every movie he makes is perfect and no other comedies are funny unless he's directing. His mate Simon Pegg is even writing this, it could be better than Guardians of the Galaxy, which is the same as Star Trek because you know, space.

Nothing will go wrong with this film, it will be perfect.

Even though no script has been written, I smell disaster for this film. It sure won't be getting the previous budget the last 2 films got. Heard a rumor they are going to do another time travel film like Star trek IV: The Voyage Home. If Simon Pegg is Co writing...I wouldn't be surprised.

You guys are all lame... there is no script .. they are writing it.. how can it be in trouble or be a flop at this point? If you ask any normal folk they probably loved the humor in the last two trek films. F the haters.
