Of all the mysteries surrounding the Star Trek sequel...many have wondered who the villain(s) could be. Looks as though Damon Lindelof may have given us our first minor hint. And oh again like I said- VERY MINOR HINTS. I don't want people leaving comments saying how stupid my article is because it reveals nothing, that's the point. They aren't going to reveal the villain anytime soon but this IS our first legit info on the villain coming straight from the horse's mouth. Watch on...

So to sum it up...what do you all think?

Could we possibly be seeing the return...of Borgs to the big screen?

Personally I never wanted to see Borgs in this new series. Borgs had been present in most if not all of the Trek series (besides TOS) and I always felt their send-off was good enough in 'First Contact' and even having gone so far as to integrate the Borg Queen as the main antagonist felt like enough.

Damon Lindelof said they could rule out Borgs as the villain (but he made what seemed like an inside joke about possibly MAKING UP a villain for the sequel that is a form of a Borg. Possibly the villain may not be an original character and may just be created for this new universe of Star Trek (much like Nero himself from the 1st movie)

He did kinda hint though that the villain could be a "her"

I don't know how much of this interview I can take as a grain...or rather- TRUCK of salt. But he did talk in-depth about the Borgs and Khan.

What are you thoughts CBMers? Personally...i wanted THESE guys as the villains in the sequel and I've been chanting it on the Star Trek articles all year long-

Seriously why not? Bring the Enterprise crew to Talos IV and see what they can do against these guys. Upgrading from Romulans to Talosians seemed like a good idea especially if they want to connect this film with the Original Series.

The Borg are the best enemy in Star Trek, they could make them terrifying too, but I don't personally want this crew meeting the Borg in the current series.
Wait for a new Next Generation trilogy for that! :P

I have a strong feeling Klingons are going to be involved.

But I think the one enemy that's fearsome, unstoppable and fresh is Kirk's greatest foe.

Tribbles.

Dude, it's not gonna be the Borg, and he didn't talk in-depth about them. He didn't even drop any form a hint, clue or spoiler. If they go with Kahn fans will go nuts!

@grif
Almost all of my favourite trek episodes were ones where they had to deal with some crazy time/space anomaly or alternate reality lol
That's what the the sequel needs, some old fashioned mind-f**kage, and we all know Lindelof can handle that.

Or the evil, goatee-sporting alternate crew.

I want Kirk and Spock to deal with an oncoming Klingon/Romulan War just to kinda see the effects Nero left on the Universe. Then the Borgs for number 3... maybe lead by KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHN!

Did anyone else miss the part in the interview where Lindelof said "it's definitely not borg," after jokingly throwing it into the mix? Jeeze people are stupid...

Lindelof: it's definitely not borg...

@ZeroEthic- Yeah the tribbles episode was hilarious. Little furry pets Uhura wanted. lol

@Canon108- Yeah if you READ MY [frick]ING ARTICLE i clearly stated that he ruled out Borgs BUT he did state jokingly about possibly using the borg as a template for a different type of villain. Watch the video again.

He talked so much about Borgs and Kahn. Those are the only 2 he mentioned. So my question about possibly Borgs was still valid but like i said- I don't want Borgs in the sequel. Calling people "stupid" is rude and immature of you.

@grif- Your argument is valid and I agree. The good old adventures of the shows were always great. I loved when Kirk went to Vulcan, then he and Spock got into a fight. There are plenty of good stories to tell and I trust Lindelof, Orci and Kurtzman to not screw up.

@ComicFan69- Klingons would be great. They got deleted from the first film so why not save them for the sequel?

:)

BUT I would like the Klingons from TOS- snobby arrogant humanoid-pricks. Those would be great but I'm not against the more alien looking ones that appeared later on.

Oh and Talosians SHOULD be the villains. Abrams already fu*ked them over by making Nero and the ROMULANS the ones who paralyzed Captain Pike. It should have been the Talosians just as it was in The Original Series- Gene Roddenberry's own vision.

GIVE US TALOSIANS ABRAMS! I've been saying it all year long on this site- Talosians OR BUST.

But I'd be cool with Klingons too. Either Talosians or Klingons. Or why not both. Talosians are cool- psychic abilities, they'd be a very powerful force for the Enterprise crew to face. And like I said- they have a very heavy background with Capt. Pike in TOS...though obviously ignored by Abrams.

Here is my ranking for who i'd want as the next villain-

Talosians
Klingons
Gorn

Either of those 3 would be awesome.

Klingons. But genuinely badass, scary Klingons. Not cuddly comic relief Worf. Think a whole race of space Conans.

Khan
Klingons
The Borgs (Dont care what Lindelof says! I still want them to be in it!)
Gul Dukat
or
New Enemy (Like Nero! Which in my opinion was a great villain!)

Dukat wouldn't make any sense, but damn, he'll always be my favorite Trek villain. I always Marc Alaimo's voice when I read Dr Strange.

You are all missing the Enterprise's main individual enemy in the original series: Harry Mudd!

Think of the fun they could have trying to cast him!

Also, what about a Q? Not necessarily the same Q from TNG, but wasn't there an episode in the original series where later on it was acknowledged the original crew dealt with a member of the Q continuum?
Batman732
Batman732 - 7/27/2011, 7:41 AM
Trelane was the member of the Q Continuum in TOS. How awesome would that be?

@bropous- Ahhhh my mistake. I saw the court-martial episode a long time ago and figured the Talosians crippled him, because i remembered that they captured him.

I'm also guessing in this film they won't disfigure Pike.

Love this scene but i wish they'd release the entire deleted scene of the prison planet that held Nero and show us all of the alien prisoners.

I def noticed Abrams switched the personalities of the Klingons and Romulans a bit. lol. Good stuff. RIGID FOREHEAD KLINGONS FTW
