At least it looks more space-exploratory... Maybe they slapped this trailer together to quiet the hardcore trekkie naysayers?

Reminds me of the Avengers trailer....beginning shot of city with narration similar to Loki "You were made to be ruled" then a shot of Benedict's character being escorted by armed guards, again very similar.

I loved that first movie and thought that it was going to be tough to top. This trailer alone blew it out of the water.

"He was one of our best agents."

It's not Khan. Khan was never a Star Fleet agent, nor could he be in the new timeline because his story happened before the time shift.

-------------------------

Did you even think before you posted that? If the launching of Khan's ships(S.S. Botany Bay) happened before the shift in the timeline(which it did, since it was launched in 1996 at the end of the Eugenic Wars according to the events of "Space Seed"), then it's entirely possible for Khan to exist in the current time.

Think of Back to the Future Part II, with Doc Brown's explain of time & alternate realities. The original timeline still exist & everything that happened before the timeline switched into the alternate reality still can exist. In the case of back the future, everything that happened in 1955(or Back to the Future I) still happened, it's what happened after Marty went back to his own time, that changed everything.

Now use that theory for Star Trek, since the timeline didn't change until 2233(the first Star Trek film in the rebooted series), then everything that happened before the timeline switch, CAN still happen. Meaning that Khan's vessle is still drifting out in space somewhere, just waiting for someone to come across it. The only thing that cannot be part of this timeline, is everything that was part of the original timeline, after 2233(23rd century). Again, Khan is still entire possible.

I beg to differ, sir. True, it's probably not Khan. BUT, it IS possible. Here's how.. After the timeline change, the Botany Bay COULD have been found by someone else. After being revived, in order to avoid attention, he could have changed his name and assumed a new identity. He then could have decided to discretely make his move by joining/infiltrating Starfleet because he'd have great resources at his disposal there. Just a theory.

Could still be Gary Mitchel however, the events of "Where no man has gone before" should have changed leading him to not have the powers. So, who the hell is this guy? LOL, Finagin?!? "Ahh, Jimmy boy."

He's a clone from the the stock as Kahn. He actually references himself as the "6th" at one point.

@Jake

erm... i agree with you so don't think i'm being a dick, but... indians are caucasian. well, some anthropologists think that southern indians are australoid like native australians, but "singh" is definitely a northern indian name, so khan is caucasian.

but he should still be BROWN.

Not likely to be Gary Mitchell. The IDW "in continuity" Star Trek comic overseen by Roberto Orci started off printing versions of select TOS adventures as experienced by the crew in the new continuity. They pretty much covered Mitchell right out of the box.

Given the way the story turned out, it's not Gary Mitchell.

Ok first, This trailer is off the chain, and I am waiting for the release.

Now! No, it is not Khan, or Gray Mitchell. Everyone is right who say's this. The one thing some people are missing, is that this crew of the Enterprise have not even started the historic 5 year mission. Let us thing of time as being elastic rather then being brittle. All we have are bits and pieces of what happened be for the start of that mission. We all know who Carol Marcus is. And we know she and Kirk hooked up before the 5 yr mission. And we know a lot has changed. Vulcan played a big part in that mission, an know it's gone. But remember, old Spook is there. He know whats going to happen and he will be able to help keep the time line from changing more then what it has.

So, with this change that has come. They have the ability to have a new spin on old story's.

Before anyone says it, Alice Eve can't be Sue Storm. Because she's Amora the Enchantress, dammit.

Also, because she's chained up in my basement.
