Scotty STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS

Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz) says Montgomery "Scotty" Scott is, "still very proud, and he thinks he owns the ship. He’s very principled, and those principles define his role in the film." As the ship's engineer, one could make the case that it is Scotty's ship so to speak. Discussing one of the finer points of his character, the actor revealed that J.J. Abrams (Lost, Super 8) allowed him to inject some Scottish jargon into the script but later decided to scale it back, "J.J. lets me put Scotishisms into the script. But one day he came up to me on the set and said, ‘Simon, we have to understand what you are saying!" So I pulled it back a little bit." Maybe these scenes will make it onto the blu-ray extras? As for Benedict Cumberbatch's (Sherlock) John Harrison or more precisely, the true identity of John Harrison, Pegg shared, "It’s been fun seeing people try to figure out who he is playing and all the time it just being a very simple answer. John Harrison is indicative of a thing going on in society today, which is the enemy within. Not…a multi-horned alien or another country or whatever. It’s the idea that the threat can be one of us and can come from inside." Pegg gave us a fairly humorous introduction to Scotty in the 2009 Star Trek film but a brief glimpse in the latest international trailer has revealed that he'll be getting in on the action this time around. Star Trek Into Darkness hits U.S. theaters May 17, 2013.

I find Simon Pegg ever so slightly annoying these days.

I'm pulling for Quark!

On a serious side though, I just watched the remastered version of the Doomsday Machine episode. I have to say, I can see how this movie may follow a skewed version of that story. A lot of the scenes I see Benedict Cumberbatch in remind me of scenes that Commodore Decker are in. Crazed, struggle for control, captured, in the midst of destruction at "doomsday" level proportions. I don't see Kahn, I see Commodore Decker reinvented.

Im utterly guessing here, but from one of the trailers, it looks like the Klingons are the bitches of the villain again (just like they were Nero's bitches in the deleted scenes of the first movie)

Wouldnt it be great to see the Klingons make a triumphant return as villains in the third one
