Star Trek has raised the bar for all others that will follow

No other movie so far has been better in retelling the story than J.J. Abram's attempt at Star Trek.

Star Trek took the concept of prequels (of the likes of Batman Begins; not Star Wars) and tastefully paid tribute to the series and movies without disposing/trashing all of the other movies that preceded it. J.J. Abrams also reintroduced a series that wore itself out in the late eighties and early nineties and by making the movie explain itself as to why the timeline seemed different than the original (in contrast with what Chris Nolan did with Batman by remaking the Joker rivalry in The Dark Knight - which was better than the original but ignored its existence). This movie by far is the best of the series and will give a lot of freedom and ingenuity to Abrams for sequels.
