AVENGERS: ENDGAME Star Robert Downey Jr. Rumored To Be Interested In Joining The STAR WARS Universe

Robert Downey Jr. spent over a decade as the face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but could a Galaxy Far, Far Away be next for the former Iron Man? It sounds a lot like he's interested in Star Wars...

Ever since Ahsoka Tano mentioned "Thrawn" in The Mandalorian, fans have been wildly speculating about live-action plans for the Grand Admiral. That includes who could end up playing him, though we're not sure why Lucasfilm wouldn't turn to Lars Mikkelsen, the actor who did such a wonderful job of voicing the iconic villain in Star Wars Rebels

Benedict Cumberbatch is a fan-favourite choice to play Thrawn, though, as is...Robert Downey Jr?

Addressing recent internet scuttlebutt in a now deleted Tweet, Noah Outlaw from Kessel Run Transmissions (a reliable source for Star Wars rumours), said, "[Robert Downey Jr.] is not Thrawn. Now, I will say...[Lucasfilm] has talked to  [Downey] about being in a future Star Wars project."

That's an intriguing possibility, and it's hard not to imagine this happening in the movie we know Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is producing for Lucasfilm. Then again, we could just as easily see Downey reunite with Iron Man director Jon Favreau for an episode of The Mandalorian

One thing we can say for sure is that the actor would benefit from being part of another successful franchise. Dolittle was a flop, and he's always had mixed fortunes outside of the MCU.

The question is, who would you like to see Downey play in a future Star Wars project?
