Dave Filoni Explains How REVENGE OF THE SITH Will Inspire His Untitled STAR WARS Movie

We know that The Mandalorian director/co-creator Dave Filoni's Star Wars movie will serve as a conclusion to the Disney+ shows, but it sounds like it'll also draw inspiration from a surprising source...

Season 3 of The Mandalorian wrapped-up on Wednesday, and the episode really did play out more like a series finale than the conclusion to a season. The show is expected to return at some point, but even if it doesn't, we know Din Djarin and Grogu's story will continue on the big screen.

We got confirmation during Star Wars Celebration that Dave Filoni will direct an untitled Star Wars movie that will serve as a culmination of the stories playing out in the Disney+ shows (the ones set in and around the same timeline, at least).

We don't have too much to go on just yet, but while speaking to Rotten Tomatoes, Filoni revealed that his film will take inspiration from the final instalment of the divisive Prequel trilogy... but only when it comes to the scale of the battle scenes!

Several The Mandalorian cast members also weighed in on why they feel Filoni is the right man to helm this particular movie.

The Mandalorian featured some pretty impressive battle sequences in its own right, but it sounds like fans can expect this mysterious adventure in the Galaxy Far, Far Away to up the ante considerably.

What did you guys make of season 3 of The Mandalorian? What would you like to see from Filoni's Star Wars film? Drop us a comment down below.

I've noticed that the official time-line that the upcoming projects will span included the Old Republic. Are we getting a project based in the O.R.?

@HydraB0b - a movie 25,000 years in the past that will make the 1st jedi a women and everything any male jedi ever accomplished will be because of the early females in the order and their wisdom and strength. The 25k part is right but rest is my informed prediction based on what many other woke companies and writers have done with their popular male characters that made these franchises household names when others worked on them.

@WarMonkey - anyone ever notice that the more a person says "woke" or "biden"...the lower their IQ is?

@HydraB0b - yeah. The concept of woke politics is pretty terrible. Probably why every project that does it bombs.

@HydraB0b - "anyone ever notice that the more a person says "woke" or "biden"...the lower their IQ is?" OK Mr. Smarty-Pants tell me what happened with the Avengers, The Witcher, Doctor Who and many other properties that retconned their universe so a female was responsible for everything and why a Disney product wouldn't be doing this once again when studies are doing this with intent? Or is your only contribution dismissing the point with a moronic boring-ass attempt at an insult?

I am rubber, you are glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you! I can make child-like arguments too just like you Mr. Boo-hoo

@HydraB0b - Yes people that are woke - the ones who think race, sexuality, and gender are the most important things about a person - they are absolutely stupid and ruin everything they get their hands on.

@HydraB0b - Revan is the only way to go, but I don’t recall how long ago his events took place.

@WarMonkey - things were so much more representative when a white male lead every production... i remember the good old days of stage acting when even women were played by men....

Going back to previous work and stealing, oops I mean "inspired by". Disney and Filoni have a serious problem of just copying stuff that came before. Like I couldn't believe they were directly ripping off Rebel and Clone Wars stories and scenes for their live-action stuff, good story-tellers don't do that.

@WarMonkey - I mean Filoni was behind Rebels and CW, so I don’t see that as ripping off as he’s behind the live action shows too. He’s simply continuing his stories and plot lines, in live action.

Can't wait to see the real Episode 7 from Dave.

I'll make sure to do a rewatch of the first six movies, on the eve of Episode VII - The Filoni Cut.
(Clone Wars,
Revenge of the Sith,
Rogue One,
A New Hope,
The Empire Strikes Back
and Return of the Jedi).

@ObserverIO - Clone Wars the movie, the show, or just the final arc? I'm planning on watching that final arc again. Probably my favorite piece of animated Star Wars
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 4/21/2023, 11:17 AM
@bkmeijer1 - I meant the movie, but that final arc was some seriously good Star Wars. That should have been a movie. I'd pay to see that on the big screen for sure.

@ObserverIO - agreed. And I definitely wanna see that on the big screen for sure. The same with The Mandalorian's S2 finale.

I knew from second one that the one X-Wing had to be Red Five (and I think Moff Gideon knew as well), and wished I saw that in the cinema. Those 15 minutes of Luke Skywalker is the 15 minutes of Star Wars I wanted to see

ROTS is my favorite, mostly because it came out when I was 14. Aside from ESB, it's top notch. Dave Feloni is god, he's even growing a Lucas beard haha

@bobevanz - “top notch”

It was the best of the prequels and that’s not saying much.

But to compare it along side a true classic like Empire Strikes Back is borderline sacrilege

Pretty cool to see that the cast is squarely behind him too. Thing I really like about this season is how many prequel-ties it had, and that is I think thanks to Dave. He really is out there making what the Sequel trilogy should've been

My box office predictions

Rey's movie : 300-400 million

Feloni movie : 800m-1.5billions

Mangold movie : 500-800 millions maybe more depending if he poops or not on StarWars lore

I think I’m most excited for his movie just because Filoni has done great stuff in the universe and is a true Star Wars fan and seems to get what makes the property click unlike anyone else at Lucasfilm.

Revenge of the Sith? Then, Thrawn's fleet will lay siege to the New Republic.

Meanwhile, Palpatine as a Force Ghost will send a Sith from Exegol to steal Dr. Pershing's research. The Emperor's Hand, Mara Jade.
