New STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Concept Art Features A Redesigned TIE Fighter
The preferred space-craft of the Empire has been given an update for J.J. Abrams' The Force Awakens, though it is still recognizable as a version of the classic TIE Fighter from the original trilogy. We can also make out some red-cloaked Imperial Guards... but who could they be guarding?
Here we have some leaked concept art of a new-look Star Wars: The Force Awakens TIE Fighter. Obviously it's quite a bit larger than the classic ship, but the cockpit and wing designs remain pretty much the same. Probably the most interesting thing about the image is the presence of the Imperial Guards. These mysterious red-cloaked figures were only ever around in the original movies when Emperor Palpatine was on screen, so does this mean the evil old bastard will be returning for The Force Awakens? Well, that's a bit of a jump of course... but it stands to reason that these silent sentries are guarding someone of importance. A new Emperor perhaps?
Starring original cast members Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker and franchise newcomers, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong’o and Max von Sydow, Star Wars Episode VII is set to be released on December 18th, 2015.
