SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY Writer Says A Sequel Series Is Not In The Works For Disney+

Despite strong support for a Solo sequel on social media (#MakeSolo2Happen), one of the movie's writers has now seemingly dismissed the notion of a follow-up coming to Disney+ in the near future...

After behind the scenes issues which led to a change in directors, Solo: A Star Wars Story was surrounded by negativity and a last-minute marketing campaign that ultimately did the movie no favours. Proof of that came after it earned only $392.9 million worldwide on an insanely high budget of $275 million (which was hugely inflated after extensive reshoots were necessary).

Many Star Wars fans loved the film, though, hence why there's a popular movement online which has been dubbed #MakeSolo2Happen.

While a sequel hitting theaters is massively unlikely, there are those who believe Lucasfilm should continue Han Solo's story on Disney+. The movie ended with a huge cliffhanger following that surprise appearance from Darth Maul, and it was clear that there were more stories to be told with characters like Han, Chewie, Lando, and Qi'ra.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like anything remotely close to a follow-up is happening, as Solo writer Jon Kasdan has taken to Twitter to say he's heard nothing about Lucasfilm wanting the franchise to continue.

Needless to say, this is going to disappoint fans, so we'll just have to hope things change moving forward...
