Marvel Studios has delivered hit after hit since 2008, and Kevin Feige is the mastermind behind that success. He's also a huge Star Wars fan, of course, and is producing a standalone movie for Lucasfilm. This has led to a lot of conspiracy theories online that Feige is being eyed to take over Lucasfilm from Kathleen Kennedy in order to put the franchise back on what many believe would be the right track.
Despite the disappointing end to the Skywalker Saga, Kennedy has delivered a lot of hits as Lucasfilm's President, including Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, a revival of The Clone Wars, and The Mandalorian (The Force Awakens actually broke box office records back in 2015).
Talking to Entertainment Weekly to promote the release of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Feige was asked if his influence on a Galaxy Far, Far Away will extend beyond his own movie.
"No. That's all Kathy Kennedy," he responded, referring to the other movies and TV shows currently in the works from Lucasfilm. "I'm involved in as much as I stay up until midnight L.A. time to watch new episodes of The Mandalorian when they drop."
Someone really needs to hook Feige up with some early screeners of The Mandalorian, but at least this has now been explained.
Lucasfilm is definitely emulating the Marvel Cinematic Universe with how its Disney+ shows are handled, but that doesn't meant Feige is the one pulling the strings. His Star Wars movie remains something of a mystery, though it did recently add Loki writer Michael Waldron to pen the screenplay.
