STAR WARS: New Novel Reveals Decision The Jedi Who Become Sith Inquisitors Must Each Face

The Sith Inquisitors first took centre stage in Star Wars Rebels, and the idea that Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader actually had an entire group of Force-users at their beck and call was a legitimate game-changer for this franchise.

They've since become a largely convenient group of antagonists, whether it's in video games like Star Wars Jedi or other live-action and animated projects. There's no denying that they're an intriguing group, though, particularly as they aren't true Sith (the rule is that there can only be two, remember).

What we know is that these former Jedi turned to the Dark Side after Order 66, and we now have more details on the process that sees these Inquisitors turn their backs on the idea of serving the Galaxy as heroes.

Author Delilah S. Dawson's new novel Star Wars: Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade follows the story of a young Jedi Padawan who survived Order 66, only to ultimately fall to the Dark Side.

USA Today (via SFFGazette.com) spoke with the writer about the newly introduced Iskat Akaris and she confirmed that in exploring the character's dissatisfaction with the Jedi Order, she "definitely felt shades of what I'm seeing online from generations younger than mine – that they have little hope for the future and little say in how their world can be saved. Rebellion feels like a natural eventuality."

"Of course, for Iskat, rebellion against the Jedi Order involves a darker turn. She can't imagine leaving, and so she is given a choice: Join the Inquisitorius or die."

So, there you have it: a Jedi must join them or die. While there are those who would choose death over the Dark Side, some clearly gave in to their darker impulses, thereby becoming members of the Inquisitorius.

It's an intriguing, albeit expected, development and one we expect this new novel to elaborate on. Ahsoka is going to include an Inquisitor years after the fall of the Empire, along with a number of other Sith-like baddies, so it may be there we learn even more about these Jedi.

As for Star Wars: Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade, that's now available to purchase.

Was this not just kinda assumed to be the case? I mean, the empire was literally hunting all the Jedi, so what other options could there have been?

@OmegaBlack13 - I think it makes Revas story more interesting. She faked being an inquisitor to get at Vader. Funny thing though because she ended up selling her soul for revenge. Which is such a Sith thing to do.

@OmegaBlack13 - Pretty sure that Eddie Izard covered this years ago with his "Cake or Death" sketch.

Not gonna lie...The Inquisitor stuff does not sit well with me lore wise. Kind of feels like a "OMG they killed everyone with light-sabers during Order 66...what do we do now?" problem they chose to fix by having Inquisitors and straggling "survivors".

Almost of these books have been miserable failures, except for a few that are the exceptions that prove the rule.

Unlike the EU books starting with the Thrawn Trilogy through New Jedi Order, the Dark Nest Trilogy, and Legacy of the Force which were gigantic successes and events.

What changed? I can only wonder.

The title needs to be proofread, it does not make sense at all.

The coolest inquisitor is definitely the one from Tales of the Jedi.

@JFerguson - Such a fantastic design. Still so salty they showed up for barely 5 minutes before getting murked.
