STAR WARS: SQUADRONS Posters Released Ahead Of Today's Trailer Debut For The New Video Game

A first look at Star Wars: Squadrons is set to be released later today, and some teaser posters showcasing both sides of the conflict have now been shared online by EA. Check them out after the jump...

For better or worse, EA is in charge of the Star Wars video games, and given the company's penchant for churning out yearly titles, Star Wars: Squadrons coming out next year is no huge surprise.

Rumour has it that the story will be relatively short (possibly just a few hours), with the main focus being on online play. This sounds a lot like Star Wars Battlefront - but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Regardless, a trailer is coming later today, and that should give us a better idea of what to expect.

In the meantime, we have a couple of posters which, as you can see, puts the spotlight on both sides of the conflict (which appear to be the Resistance and The Final Order). Right now, we don't know if the game will tie into the movies, but it would be pretty epic to be part of that final battle above Exegol if that's something which would be possible from a technological standpoint.

Time will tell on that front, but these posters are definitely striking and promise a fun time for gamers...

A Star Wars themed spaceship simulator seems fun. Am hoping it would have diffrent game modes like: Battle, PodRacing and Kessel Run. Including Lightspeed abilities is a must.
Just don't include the slow mothership chase from Last Jedi.

@JustALurker - It is, Tie Fighter is still considered a classic of the genre and in general the X-wing/Tie Fighter series was and still is the template for PC starfighter simulators (you can get on either Steam or GOG.com, being old games better get them on GOG). Regarding the mothership chase that was something exceptional in that fighters couldn't be involved and there was reliable hyperspace tracking in play, there were plenty of those in the old games and those involved fighters and ended when the capital ship got to the hyper point. Particularly spectacular was a chase sequence in X-wing Alliance, the last game of the series.

May have to buy this, even though I am pretty shit at the flying bits of Battlefront 2.

Probably because I don't play that side of the game much.

Those are clearly Original Trilogy X-Wings and TIE Fighters, Josh. Quit your lazy clickbaiting shtick.

@LadiesmanBumble - In the second one it even says "You're the Empire's Strength".

I wouldn't be surprised one bit if this just an expanded full game using the fighter squadron mode from Battlefront 2.

If so, thats disappointing, because the flight controls and mode in general kind of suck.

Hoping for a spiritual successor of X-Wing/Tie Fighter is crazy. Those games are only possible on PC due to the fact that nearly every key on the keyboard did something. There's just not enough buttons on a controller to go that in delth on console.

I think the best we can hope for is something like Rogue Squadron with a multiplayer mode.
