Lucasfilm kept us waiting for the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer earlier today, but it was definitely worth it. Before the teaser was shown during the Episode IX panel at Star Wars Celebration in Chicago, we got to see many new stills from the movie to whet our appetites for what was to come.

The images gave us a first look at many of the new characters and aliens who will factor into proceedings, as well as the return of Rose Tico and some very cool behind-the-scenes shots of the heroes.

A few of these could be deemed a tad spoilery, but there's nothing here that will ruin your overall enjoyment of the finale to the Skywalker Saga when it finally arrives in theaters this December. Instead, they'll probably get you even more excited for the journey J.J. Abrams is planning to take us on, because that trailer made it clear it's not going to be what we expected.

Idk if this was mentioned in another article or its comment section, but I just found out Ian McDiarmid was at Star Wars celebration and after they debuted the new trailer, he briefly came on stage to say "play it again" in his Palpatine voice.

So that laugh at the end is definitely the Emperor. At first I thought it sounded like Mark Hamill doing an evil Joker-esqe laugh and I was pumped it might be an evil Luke twist. But it's just Palpatine, which is still bad ass.

Hype levels restored.

@PTM - Palpatine has to return as an entity similar to a force ghost. As a manifestation of the dark side.

So let's make our bets. Who's gonna die? Chewie or Lando? Or Kylo? Or all of them?

@Nightwing1015 - I think they brought Lando back SPECIFICALLY to kill him off in some fashion.

@Nightwing1015 - Chewie is definitely a goner. And so is Kylo, the last of the Skywalker bloodline.

@Nightwing1015 - I don't think they'll kill Chewie off because he can be a recurring character down the line since anyone can really play him. Same with the droids.

@L0RDbuckethead - I'd find it especially hilarious if Lando drops dead five minutes after his introduction.
