Star Trek Beyond is shaping up to be a hit, and after a rough couple of years outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with big budget disappointments like In the Heart of the Sea and Huntsman: The Winter's War, no one could blame Chris Hemworth for wanting to return to the Star Trek franchise. However, seeing as he played Captain Kirk's father and died in the first few minutes of the 2009 reboot, there's no way that can happen, right? Well, you may be surprised by this latest development.
Asked during the press conference for Star Trek Beyond about a fourth instalment of the franchise, producer J.J. Abrams revealed: "Yes, and there’s something that hopefully we’re figurative minutes away from talking about. But the answer is 100 percent yes, and it’s incredibly exciting." However, reporter Scott Mantz has since revealed that not only is the script finished, but Hemsworth will be reprising his role as George Kirk. How is that going to work though after we saw him die?
Time will tell, but time travel seems like the most likely option when you take into account what this rebooted series has done in the past. Either way, this looks to be one hell of a team-up in Star Trek 4!
