TERMINATOR 5: Emilia Clarke And Garrett Hedlund Considered For Sarah and John Connor Roles

And they're not the only ones! Paramount are reportedly looking at a number of young actors for the roles of Sarah and John Connor in Terminator 5 (which will be directed by Thor: The Dark World's Alan Taylor is recent rumours are to be believed), and you can find the short list after the jump!

According to Schmoes Know, their source has told them that Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Brie Larson (21 Jump Street) and Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) are all being considered for the role of Sarah Connor in Terminator 5. The character was played by Linda Hamilton in the original movies and Lena Headey in TV series, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Her son John is also set to appear in the movie, with Boyd Holbrook (The Host) and Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy) both named as being on the short list of actors being considered. Actors who have played him include Edward Furlong, Michael Edwards, Nick Stahl and Christian Bale. So, is this a sequel? A prequel? It's hard to say, but it's obvious that time travel will play a big role in the fifth instalment!

know how i feel ... not interested at all. There is nothing more to be told about Terminator universe.
The story ended with T2. Basically it started and ended with T2. I still don't get this T1 hype. Not at all.

We need to ****ing stop with the remakes, prequels, sequels. Seriously, do people not want to see anything original nowadays. Can people just not let go off movies and move on. Seriously, it's quite sad.

I enjoyed certain elements of Salvation, but after watching Look Who's Terminating Now, I was really ready for some future war stuff.

Really, plotwise, the original movie said all that needed to be said. The next two were just retreads. John Connor, grown up, future war, just...I don't even care if it's stuff we know about, just SHOW it. Getting into Skynet, shutting them down, etc etc.

I really enjoyed Salvation. It's vastly underrated IMO.

T3 was shit though.

@RR51

Sequels, remakes, reboots, and adaptations are ALWAYS the easiest pitches to make to a studio, and the easiest to get greenlit. This will ALWAYS be the case, and has been since Gone With The Wind.

I look at it as the modern version of Oral Tradition. Stories passed down, generation to generation, being elaborated on, embellished, etc.

Salvation was awesome, doesn't deserve that much hate.

BUT I LIKED IT.
And hell yeah to The Mother of Dragons

I watched Salvation recently, and enjoyed it more than I remembered. I've actually still never seen Terminator 3.

I just didn't need the convoluted new Terminator thing with Sam Worthington, but ultimately it didn't take anything away. THe first part with Bale and the helicopter and Terminator was pretty sweet though.

Sarah AND John? Ok, so there will still be future elements.

I'm going to wait till I see a trailer AND the movie.

Salvation was trash, the worst in the series without the doubt, throwminators, transforminators, hybrids, focusing on Marcus instead of John Connor, John Connor's stupidity, everything ugh.

They couldn't even get the basics of the future war right for heavens sake. The resistance never fought Skynet during the day, that's when they laid low. Fighting took place during the night and it made sense. H-K aerials were the main weapons for Skynet not Terminators who were only placed on the frontlines when Skynet started losing the war and used for infiltration into camps. You call that a nuclear holocaust, you call that a [frick]ing "war" hahahaha what a joke. Where was the dread, the terror, the horror? that James Cameron wonderfully crafted and conveyed in just under 5 minutes in the first two films.

Salvation's an abomination. Terminator 3 was a piss poor carbon copy of the second film, but i'll take it over that crapfest known as Salvation.

As if the notion of remaking THE [frick]ing TERMINATOR (I'm still processing this absurdity) wasn't bad enough, they now have to put in the most generic actors for the lead roles.

Hollywood has no soul.

Maybe they would make more original movies if people actually went out and supported them. I don't see what the big deal is about reboots anyways, if the movie is awesome then I honestly don't care whether it's a remake, reboot, prequel, sequel, spin-off, requel, se-boot,inbetween-quel, whatever. Just make a good movie.

So with these presumed possible casting choices I am going to infer the storyline is John Connor going back in time to protect a young Sarah Connor.

I only allow this reboot if they also reboot the Alien franchise! And get on with the Highlander reboot! Liam Hemsworth for John McClane in the direly needed Die Hard reboot! Taylor Lautner for Rambo!

Why will Sarah and John be cast as being the same age? Why are they regressing back to young actors? They should just let these movies finish, T2 was a fitting end.

If they do insist on moving forward, drop T3 and Salvation and give us what everyone wants to see, the war and not with child actors, cast adults.

I actually liked Christian Bale as John Connor but I disliked Salvation, they need to get back to the horror roots of the original and go for a hard R rating, that's what the terminator series needs more than anything else.

I imagine he has seen it, since he's the one that recommended Worthington for the role.

"Why will Sarah and John be cast as being the same age?"

I almost asked the same thing, but...it's time travel.

I'll also agree with you about TASM, definitely.

@TheBlackNerd Tron 3 is already going to be pushed back some, why? Olivia Wilde aka Mrs. Sudeikis (Quorra) is pregnant.
