TERMINATOR 5: Emilia Clarke & Brie Larson Frontrunners For 'Sarah Connor' Role

An update on the casting for the female lead role in Alan Taylor's Terminator movie names previously announced contenders Clarke (Game Of Thrones) and Larson (Short Term 12) as the frontrunners -- with an "edge" going to the former apparently.

Deadline report that Paramount and director Alan Taylor have narrowed their search for a new Sarah Connor down to Emilia Clarke and Brie Larson. Orphan Black's Tatiana Maslany and The Wolf Of Wall Street's Margot Robbie were also in the mix at one stage. Both Larson and Clarke have obviously tested for the role, but word is that "Clarke has an edge" having worked with Taylor on HBO's Game Of Thrones playing the "mother of dragons", Daenerys Targaryen. Will she now get the chance to play the mother of the future? Which actress do you think best suits the role?

Sarah Conner seems to be young girl. Looks like no John Conner in this movie.

Why is there going to be a terminator 5 film, yet Chief can't get a film?

Yeah I gotta go with Clarke. Larson is great too, but we're talking about the Khaleesi here dammit!

I think Emilia can actually resemble a young Linda Hamilton

Is that really the best picture of Brie Larson they could find? I love her.

She won't be playing the hard-case Sarah Connor from T2, this is taking it back to the beginning..at least I assume.

So does make the other Terminator films redundant? Because if this is a prequel to the first Terminator film that is going to suck. The only redeeming part about that is if because of changing up the timeline so much different people start appearing in different parts in time. So because of time travel the timeline is thrown out of whack.

Imagine if because of time travel people from the past and future just appeared in the present. That could be an interesting take on this film.

That all being said I so wish I could see James Cameron do his future war saga.

But at least he gets the rights back in 2019. So right after Avatar 4 comes out he can make a new Terminator film. With the tech of that year the future war movie is going to look great or should I say grim.

Emilia Clarke actually looks like a young Linda Hamilton and she can most definitely act so she is my pick!

Not sure Emilia Clarke can act. It's fine to see her naked on Game of Thrones. She doesn't have the best figure...but at least it's something. She always seems to have this far off "don't look in the camera, don't look in the camera" stare.

Brie Larson would be awesome. I just hope Arnold isn't in this. He's awesome and will always be THE Terminator but have you seen him recently? He's way too old for this. They should do it like they did "The Sarah Conner Chronicles" where it's a new Terminator but he's just as murder-y as Arnold was in Terminator 1. I'm also hoping they spend an equal amount of time in The Future War as they do whatever time period they choose to set it in (Sarah is young, so I'm assuming the late 70's or early 80's).

@kirdejM

well, yeah...I've seen everything they've shown on 'Thrones. Just because she's naked doen't mean it looks good. It may be as good as she can look...but I've seen better curves.

Is Arnold returning because so far that and Tom Hardy playing John Connor is the only good news about this film. I really hope it's not a straight up reboot. I'm hoping it's still a continuation of the fourth film.
