In a recent interview on hitfix.com composer Joe Trapanese says there is still an effort to get a Tron 3, a sequel to 2010's "Tron: Legacy," greenlit.

In the interview, he says,"we're doing our best to get it off the ground." The article states he is waiting for the green light from Disney and "Legacy" director Joeseph Kosinski. A script has been in the hands of several writers since 2010, most recently with Jesse Wigutow.

Trapanese collaborated with Daft Punk on the "Tron: Legacy" soundtrack and scored the short lived, but acclaimed, animated series "Tron: Uprising." He also worked with Kosinski on last year's "Oblivion." The article states that Kosinski has "Go Like Hell," starring Tom Cruise in development as possibly his next project.

A Tron sequel has been rumored off and on since "Legacy" was released. In a Crave Online interview with Bruce Boxleitner, who has played the title role in every incarnation of the franchise, he states a belief that shooting could begin as early as by the end of this year, but that it was speculation on his part.

The only other actor who has confirmed involvement with a sequel is Garret Hedlund, who played Sam Flynn in Legacy. However his statements have not been accompanied with an official studio statement. Olivia Wilde, who played Quorra, is pregnant with her first child and is due in May. She has repeatedly expressed interest in returning to the series. Cillian Murphy, whose cameo appearance in "Legacy" was rumored to hint at a future villain has not made statements one way or another about future involvement.

So what does everyone think? Is a Tron sequel still happening? Do you want it to happen. Please, comment below.

Didn't care for "Legacy." It had a lot of potential though. If made, I hope the sequel is better.

This is one of my most anticipated Disney movies if they can get the green light for it. I never cared at all about Tron until I saw Tron: Legacy and I really regretted the fact that I didn't see it in the Theaters. The soundtrack was phenomenal and the graphics were beautiful. Tron: Uprising was also a beautiful series that really deserved a season 2. The storytelling and voice acting within the series was great and it added so much girth to the world they were already rebuilding with Tron Legacy. Daft Punk would have to return!! A daft punk and deadmou5e collaboration would be epic! But I know...I know...a little farfetched. But I really want to se more of the Tron world and hear more of its epic soundtrack.

@TheDarkPnoenix

Lol!! Same here for a sec. I really do hope that they involve more of Asgard in the sequel and less of Earth. It gets boring fighting for earth in every movie let's see Asgard at the brink of destruction.

@BlackNerd I agree! More Nine Realms! I'd also love to see Enchantress and Executioner.

I have to agree with you @SotoJuiceMan, I kinda overhyped the movie myself and kinda felt underwhelmed when I finally saw it. I still liked it, just not as much as I wanted to, so I hope they make a Tron 3 because it definitely has potential, especially the way Tron Legacy left the story.

How ironic that, just earlier today, I was reading the Wikipedia page for Tron Legacy (I was looking for something else, but I digress). Even though the information was dated, at the time it appeared that many cast members were on board for the third one, which would be the first in a new trilogy. I'm all for it...there are so many stories yet to be told!
