HAN SOLO Actor Alden Ehrenreich Praises Costar Donald Glover And Teases A Younger Take On Chewbacca
In a new interview, Alden Ehrenreich discusses his younger take on iconic space-smuggler Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars anthology film, while confirming the return of everyone's favorite wookie...
When talented Hail, Caeser! star Alden Ehrenreich was cast as the young Han Solo, quite a few people came around to the idea of an origin story for the legendary Star Wars character - and of course it helps that he's shown such enthusiasm for the role up to this point.
Variety caught up with Ehrenreich at the premiere of his new movie, Rules Don't Apply, and although he obviously couldn't give too much away he did express excitement at the prospect of working with Donald Glover (who was recently cast as Lando Calrissian), and confirmed the inclusion of a younger incarnation of Chewbacca.
"I'm allowed to say that I’m really excited about Donald Glover’s casting. I think he’s going to be great in the role because he’s such a talented and interesting guy. And I can say that Chewbacca’s in the film, although I know that’s not a huge spoiler. He’s as much younger as I am in the film, so, I think he’s like 190 — or something — years old. I don’t think there’s a huge growth spurt for him from 190 to 210, so he’s probably about the same height.”
Hopefully that means we might see Peter Mayhew reprise the role of Chewie. The as-yet untitled Han Solo anthology movie is set to hit theaters on May 25, 2018.
